I Love You

Gumball's POV:

Darwin and I were walking home, I grabbed his hand and I saw his cheeks turn a shade of pink, which made me giggle. "Darwin, I--" I was cut off, someone grabbed me by the back of my shirt. I gave a low growl as I heard his voice. "Hey GummyPuss." Snickered the voice. "Get off, you rainbow dork head!" I growled as I kicked him with my back leg to fall to the ground, whipping around to see him. Tobias.

We never liked each other, he always fought with me, over everything. He was the same height as me, a bit more muscular and his skin tone was light, he had rainbow hair pulled up by a sweatband. "What a feisty kitty cat!" Tobias laughed as he looked at me threateningly. "Guys Stop!" Darwin pleaded as he stood back. "Shut it, Fish Face!" Tobias growled. I eyed Tobias. "Don't talk to him like that!" I snarled. "Or what?!" Tobias laughed.

We were fighting because I blamed him for pulling the fire alarm at school, which I had pulled, and blamed him. My ears flew back in anger and I showed my teeth. I pounced on him, pinning him down. "Ooooo aren't you cute?" He flirted. I slapped him. "Knock it off, You Rainbow Dweeb!" I snarled, my anger flaring. He just gave a stupid smile. "You've gotten tougher, Watterson, but I'm still better than you!" He growled pushing me off, I hit the sidewalk with a thud. Darwin looked at me in concern, I nodded to show him I was okay.

I hauled myself up and gave a growl, I ran up to Tobias and punched him in the gut, winding him, he let out a wheeze. I kicked his back, making him fall over. "Don't you ever talk to Darwin like that!" I snarled walking to the front of him and stepping on his head. Before I knew it, Tobias grabbed my foot and stood over me. "You gay fucker!!!" He snarled.

I saw Darwin, he looked mad at Tobias. "I got this!" I yelled to Darwin. I couldn't let Darwin fight my battles, he  means too much to me. I felt a sharp pain hit my face, Tobias had punched my cheek, it hurt, but only made me angrier. I grabbed his face and snarled. "You wanna kiss me?!" Tobias giggled as he looked at me.

I threw his head back, making his body fall to the ground. I stood over him once again. "What's wrong with being gay?!" I growled as I kicked him, giving all my strength. He gave a smile. "I'd never expect you, Gumball Watterson!!!" He growled ripping a part of my shirt. I looked down, half of my stomach was showing.

Tobias picked me up and threw me to the ground, he kicked my stomach, my face twisted in pain. He punched my face again, mainly hitting one of my eyes. I closed it, it hurt...I gave a groan. Tobias was beating me on a sidewalk, I could yell for Darwin, but no! He can't risk himself for me! I won't let it happen!

I gave another groan as Tobias kicked my side again, harder...harder..my heart pumped fast,  "Get up Gumball!" Screamed a voice that made me look over. Darwin. "I will!!! For you!" I yelled to Darwin as I head-butted Tobias, he flew off of me, I gave a half smile to Darwin, grunting as I pulled myself up.

I bared my teeth once again, hurt eye, ripped shirt, screaming sides. Tobias was already up, I stared him down, I threw all my weight on him, I kicked his face, he let out a scream, I bit his hand, leaving teeth marks on his hand. I let out a yowl as he wacked me, I flew off of him, giving a groan of pain. My head smashed into the sidewalk, I gave a cry of pain. Tobias stood up and looked at me in shock, Darwin walked over too... I saw him gasp and tears fall down his cheeks.

"Gumball...Hang--In there!" Darwin cried bending down and holding my hand. Tobias sat there in shock, I heard my parents screaming and calling an ambulance. I touched my head. N...No!!! My hand was wet, I looked at it....Blood. I started to tremor, I felt dizzy, the smell of blood swam around me. Strong...And Awful. I let my good-eye close.

"I hurt---" I whimpered. Blood started to pool around me, I could see it now, all of it. Dark and tantalizing. "It's okay Gumball." Darwin sobbed as he squeezed my hand comfortingly. I let my eye fall on Tobias. He was shaking, I let all the mean thoughts slip out of my mind...Now's not the time!

I closed my eyes, an ambulance siren blaring through my head. My parents stood over me, I could feel their presence. "H--Ang On buddy!" Darwin stuttered as tears flooded his face. I didn't respond, my face and head hurting, plus my side aching. I let my breath go shallow, I felt sick to my stomach, the smell of blood revolting.

"GUMBALL!!!" I heard a voice scream. I didn't need to look. "Darwin, I'm Okay." I reassured him gently, nearly in a whisper. "I-I love you du-de." I managed to say before feeling myself being carried. "I love you too." Sobbed Darwin. As I was being carried away, I heard Darwin arguing with Tobias. I didn't hear Tobias answer, when he did, his voice cracked and was quiet.

"Gumball...I'm so sorry. Please don't die...I'm just...jealous of you... you go on crazy adventures and have the best life...I'm so sorry...please please please wake up..." a hoarse voice said sadly as they touched my hand. I felt my eyes flutter open. "Tobias...why're you here...?" I asked slowly, nearly a whisper. I looked at my hands...red...dark...blood... he gave a slight smile. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry." He said choking on his words. "It's---O-Kay." I mumbled, trying to reassure him.

I blinked both eyes, my injuried eye sticky, it hurt once I opened it. "I'm glad you're okay." Tobias mumbled as he left. I closed my hurt eye, I took a breath. I miss Darwin... I looked to my left...Nobody there...the visiting chairs empty. My heart dropped. N-No! He's here! I looked to my right, only to feel the breath get caught in my throat.

"Darwin." I mumbled at the sleeping boy. He waited for me. He knew I'd make it... Darwin blinked his eyes open. "Gumball!!!" He delightedly shrieked hugging me. "Aye, a bit easy on the side." I warned him as he loosened his grip, but still held on. "I'm so glad you're okay!" He smiled and kissed me, his lips brushed against mine, causing me to giggle and my face grow warm.

"Darwin--Thank you for always being there for me." I said sitting up. I touched my head. Stitches. He gave me a smile. "I'd do anything for you." "Darwin, can you see my stitches?" I asked gently as he walked around me, eyeing my head. "No, but you're hair is bloody, you need a shower." He said kissing my cheek. "I wanna go home, Bubble Cheeks." I grinned. "Mom and Dad are talking to your doctor, Anais is getting snacks out of the vending machine." Darwin smiled reading his texts. He blushed and looked at me. "Love that nickname." He smiled.

I ruffled his hair. Pretty soon my doctor walked in, he cleaned my eye, it was back to its normal self, crystal clear and bright blue. I felt like I could conquer the world! I leapt out of the hospital bed, careful to land so my stomach's okay. My head felt fine, I felt fine, everything was fine.

I walked out of the room, Nicole, Richard, Anais, and Darwin sat waiting for me. They wrapped me in hugs. "You look great! You look like yourself but in a hospital dress!" Anais giggled tapping my nose. I lowered my ears in embarrassment. "It's a hospital gown or something..." I said with an embarrassed grin. "We were so worried!" Nicole said kissing my head, careful to watch my stitches. Richard wrapped an arm around me. "Let's go home!"

Once we arrived home I changed, took a nap,got in the shower, and then sat outside for a while. Darwin came and sat on the front steps beside me. "Wow." I murmured. "What?" He asked. "You're hot." I answered with a smirk. "Oh hush, Kitty!" Darwin smiled kissing me, I kissed him back, feeling sparks between us.

"Tobias smashed my head hard in that sidewalk." I whispered gazing at the sidewalk; little cracks and a tiny hole were there, a puddle of dark red/brown liquid caking it over. "Yeah, but I'm lucky to have you, and I'll never let you get hurt, ever again." Darwin promised grabbing my hand. My cheeks turned red. "I'll keep that promise for you as well, Bubble Cheeks." I said wrapping my arms around him in a hug.

"I love you Gumball." Darwin said sweetly. "I love you too, Darwin." I smiled kissing his forehead as we watched the sun go down, casting a beautiful light on us, but I knew Darwin was even more special than this.
