Leo stopped jumping roofs abruptly, forcing Olivia to stop too. He'd asked her to come jump roofs with him, for old times sake. So far, she was enjoying it. Leo looked out at the city below. It was bright and bustling. Olivia walked beside him a small smile gracing her face.
"Liv, can I ask you something?" Leo inquired. Olivia chuckled. "You just did." Leo chuckled too. "Another question." She shrugged. "Sure." Leo took a deep breath. "Why.....why did you leap in front of me during our rooftop battle with Shredder? What made you do that?" Olivia's eyes widened a bit. She wasn't expecting THAT kind of question. "Well, um... I'd rather not say." She mumbled. Leo cocked his head. "Why not?" He asked.
Olivia looked at her feet. "I'm not ready to tell you." she said. Leo raised an eye ridge. "Oh, so you don't trust me?" Olivia looked slightly offended. "What? No! That's not..." She began to have a loss for words. "You don't trust me, do you?" He asked, hurt evident in his voice. "After all the things we've been through together, all the times we've spent with one another." He took a deep breath. "And yet you can't tell me the simplest of things."
Olivia's brow furrowed. "No. That's not it, Leo. That's not it at all." "Then what is it? What caused you to be so stupid? Are you depressed? Are you suicidal?" Leo demanded. Olivia remained silent, guilt eating her up. Yet, she didn't want to have to admit her motivation. Leo nodded. "Exactly. If you can't trust me... I can't trust you." He turned around and began walking off, trying to ignore the feeling of worthlessness overcoming him.
Olivia couldn't hold it in anymore. She didn't want to loose her friendship with Leo. It was the best and perhaps only friendship that would be this genuine. It would dissipate because of her.
"It's because I love you, okay?! That's why I took the blow!" She paused, taking a deep breath before continuing. "It's not because I was stupid, depressed, or suicidal." She grew serious. "I would risk everything for you, Leo. Including my life if it came down to it." Olivia's eyes began to water. "I'm ashamed everytime I walk into the same room as you and your family. Because I know I'll never be as Nobel as Raph, or as smart as Donnie, or as innocent as Mikey."
Soon tears were falling from her eyes. "Or... Or as extraordinarily amazing as you, Leo. I don't deserve you love." She closed her eyes, head bowed. "I don't deserve to be a Hamato." Olivia sniffed a little, completely embarrassed for have sharing her feelings. She prepared for the heartbreak that was to follow her decision.
Instead, however, she felt a hand on her shoulder. She looked up to see Leo staring at her with a smile. "Says who?" He asked simply. Olivia looked at him, confusion evident on her face. "What?" Leo placed a hand under Olivia's chin. "You're as much a part of this family as my brothers and I are, Liv." He looked into her eyes. "And an even bigger part of my life." Olivia cracked a small smile.
"Don't downgrade yourself because you're not like others. You're perfect just the way you are. Especially to me." Olivia blushed, earning a chuckle from Leo. He kissed her forehead. Olivia was full out grinning now. She wrapped her arms around Leo and hugged him close. "So.... Does this mean you like me too?" She asked shyly. Leo nodded. "Of course." Olivia smiled. "Good." She whispered.
Nothing else mattered at that moment. In their minds, it was just Olivia and Leo, relishing in the others embrace, keeping away the cold midnight chill with the warmth of their love.
