Hi my name is Clarissa Fray. Clary for short.
I have bright red curls, striking emerald green eyes (if I do say so myself), and I am short and skinny.
I have no one. I am a junior in high-school and my awful life is about to get turned upside down. For better or for worse, I don't know yet.
FLASHBACK
CLARY GET OUT NOW AND GO TO SIMON'S HOUSE. Screamed my frantic mother Jocelyn Fray.
My 13 year old body was trembling with a new kind of fear. I open my window and prepare for the long decent down my 2 story house that me and my mother lived in. Suddenly my bedroom door burst open and in walked a man dragging my battered mother by her hair. He had white blond hair, chiselled features, and soulless black eyes.
"Ahh Clarissa it's good to see you again. Been a while hasn't it?" He spoke chillingly.
"Clary do as I told you. I love you, always remember that." She spoke tenderly.
"Let this be an example of what happens when people disobey me." He proclaimed.
I was speechless with fear.
He suddenly pulled out a gun and shot my mother in cold blood, extinguishing the light from her eyes forever. I had tears streaming down my face as I jumped from my window, tucking and rolling ,thankful for karate lessons and carried out my mothers final wishes. When i was able to breathe, I broke down and cried for what seemed like a life time.
End Flashback
"Lets go Clary you don't want to make a bad impression on your new Foster family." Says my social worker Amatis.
I hold the same indifferent expression that I always have. My name is Clary Fray, and my life sucks.
I've been through so many Foster homes that I've lost count. I wear only dark colors and almost never smile. I walk out to Amatis's car carrying only one suitcase to hold all my possessions. I eagerly jump in happy to get away from my last hell hole known as the Fae's. They had to be the weirdest family. Always wanting me to call the mom queen and what not. So i just threw a ton of bitch fits all the time and messed up there way of life and within a month I'm now being sent away.
After a long 2 hour drive we pull up in front of this 2 story white house with brick lining that had vines going up it.
It actually looked like one of the nicer Foster homes I've been in. Me and Amatis walk up to the door and rang the door bell.
The door opens and a fairly tall man with brown-gray hair, kind blue eyes, and crooked glasses gazes at me. He smiles and and offers me his hand. I don't return the gesture still keeping up my wall of indifference.
Still though his grin never falters.
"Hi Clary I'm Luke Garroway. I hope you like everything. Let me show you to your room." I give one last glance at Amatis who looks a surprising amount like Luke i now realize. Just more feminine.
The house had oak wood floors a modern kitchen a living room with a brown couch, Indian looking rug, and a flat screen TV surrounded by book shelfs. He then tells me to come up stairs where I see a long corridor with multiple rooms on either side.
"Clary I'll leave you to explore on your own so you can get comfortable." He says.
He turns and goes back down stairs. I see that the room on my left is a bathroom. Nothing exciting. Then i see a room marked Clary's in bright gold letters. Weird, that's my favorite color.
I open the door to see the most amazing room I've ever had the privilege to live in. I had a huge window overlooking a forest that at sunset would look beautiful. Then it had cobalt blue walls that had amazing golden whimsical swirls painted on them and then on the roof apparently when they painted it which is a midnight blue they blew golden sparkles in the paint while it dried so it looked like the night sky. There was a queen sized bed that had a black bed spread with gold accents and there was a mahogany dresser with a mirror on top. There was a matching bedside table next to the bed. I then notice a door in the back of the room. I open it to find a room full of canvass and instruments. There was even a punching bag and sparing material that i use for karate.
The walls where blank awaiting me to paint them. I felt a warm feeling in my chest that made me feel like i belonged. A feeling i haven't had in a while. There where tears of gratitude in my eyes. I knew instantly then that i didn't want to leave this home and that i would make an effort for Luke.
I ran down stairs and found Luke in the kitchen. "Oh hey Clary I wasn't sure what you liked so i ordered pizza, if- " I cut him off mid sentence and ran to him and gave him the first hug I've given some one in 3 years. He was shocked at first but than gladly returned it.
"Thank you Luke thank you. i don't deserve any of this but I'll make an effort for you." I gratefully spoke. "Clary after what you've been through you deserve everything. I know its kinda soon but I'd like it if you start school next week Monday." That was 1 week away, but i said i would make an effort for Luke so I'll go to school. But I'm still going to act the way i would before. Oh yes this year is going to be better.
I hope.
