CHAPTER 10: I Could Try

         I wasn't sure if I should go to the baby shower and risk seeing Annie.

         It was getting worse every time I saw her. My feelings were growing stronger and I just wanted her so bad.

        After debating for a couple of hours, I decided that I had to go. It was for Caroline and Grim.

       
        I arrived before presents were opened. I  said hi to everyone and went to go talk with some of the guys.

        After being handed a beer, I looked around and saw Annie and she was talking to Grim's cousin, Ricky.

        I clenched my jaw tightly and tried not go over there and knock his teeth in.

        She looked over at me and I quickly looked away.

        I don't know what she was doing to me. But whatever it was, I was both afraid of it and at the same time, loving the lust and awesome feeling. She was definitely not like any other girls I had been with.

        They all began playing with water balloons and I was watching all them running around and having fun while talking to a few guys.

        Though my sister approached me and after warning her not to do anything, she grinned and brought forward a water balloon. Then out of nowhere I felt something wet hit my back and right as I turned around to see Annie laughing at me. I said with a playful grin, "you're dead."

        "If you can catch me." She replied while laughing. Then she ran.

         She darted away and I just sat my beer down real quick and and ran after her.

         I ran after her and quickly grabbed her around the waist and turned her to me.

         "You think you're funny?" I ask raising my brow and smiling a little bit.

         "Yes." She laughs.

        My god, I love her laugh. And now she was biting her lower lip a little bit while looking at me.

        We both looked at each other for a brief moment and began to lean in a little bit closer to kiss. Though right before our lips met one another's. I stopped and pulled away a little bit while her eyes were closed. Waiting for me to kiss her.

         I wanted to. Though I was afraid that if I did I wouldn't be able to stop there. I am no good for her. I told myself.

        I slowly pulled away and stepped back.

        "I'm sorry." I say. He licks his lips.

        I could see how hurt she felt. I just thought I was doing her a favor.

        "I'm sorry." She said. As though it was her fault.

        Rachelle interrupted, "Hey guys, it's time to open the gifts."

        Annie smiles at her and says, "I'm coming."

        Annie begins walking passed Rachelle and back to the party while Rachelle glares at me and shakes her head no. Which I knew meant that I needed to stay away from her. And whatever I was thinking about Annie, to forget it.

         I could try. But it wouldn't be easy.
