I shuffled over to the Student Union building after my second class. To be honest, the day wasn't going too horribly. Besides discovering Sir -I mean, Professor Doucebag was my lit instructor, the day was running rather smoothly. After my first class, I had moseyed on over to the Math and Science building for my general math class. Math was definitely not my best subject, so I wasn't terribly upset that I had placed in the lower class ranking for that course. In fact, I had nearly expected it. It was a good thing I wasn't majoring in any math fields, let me just say that. But, math class had come and gone, allowing me to meet my math professor, Professor Oluo Bozado. Unlike Professor Cranky, Oluo was more than okay with first name basis. He was, dare I say it, hip. But, from math, I found myself there, at the SU building.

The place was buzzing with students on their breaks and professors enjoying their down time, all just laughing and socializing. The smell of various fast food restaurants filled the atmosphere as chatter took residence in my ears. Most of the tables in the main seating area were already occupied by clusters of friends chatting away as a number of other cliques crowded the game room. It was overly noisy to me, so I wandered up a flight of stairs to the second-floor seating area. There were still throngs of students conversing in huddles around their tables, but nowhere near as hectic as downstairs. I found an unoccupied table and claimed it, dropping my bag down and plopping into one of the empty seats. I dug into my bag and fished out my English textbook, hurrying to get a head start on that evening's lit homework. Professor Ackerman had piled us down with a good chunk of reading. Thirty pages to be exact and we had to write a two paragraph response to a question he gave us. Yeah, grand.

I emerged myself into the reading, blocking out any of the neighboring chit-chats when I heard someone speak to me, "Y/N, right?"

I glanced up from my book to see Connie smiling down at me. He stood with a straight posture, his hands collapsing the straps of his book bag and his eyes on me. Next to him stood two other fellows. I recognized them from our lit class, but their names had slipped my mind. One had short black hair parted in the center and pretty brown eyes that lit up with his shy smile, causing his cheeks to flush a little. A cluster of freckles sprinkled over his nose and cheeks, adding an adorable boyish charm to him, making him appear innocent. To his left stood the other classmate. This fellow didn't appear as innocent as our first adorable stranger. No, this one had brown hair with a spiky texture styled into an undercut and a long face with a strong chin. His eyes were a fierce golden brown, nowhere near as warm or as inviting as the first boy's, almost intimidating me a tad.

I sat up right and met each of their gazes and smiled, "What's up?"

"You're in our English class, right?" Connie asked, motioning at the book with a nod. "Ya know, Professor Ackerman's class?"

I nodded, "Yeah, I am. Why?"

I was curious as to why they were randomly crowding me, huddling around my table like three lost children twiddling their thumbs. I hunched over my textbook, my eyes still on them, just waiting for their response.

"Well, we were wondering if we could join you," the freckled boy smiled sweetly, scratching the back of his head. "It's just, we saw you and recognized you from class and figured we could study with you." He flashed me a toothy grin, adding, "If you want to, that is."

I blinked. They...they wanna sit with me? They wanna be near me? I questioned internally. I could feel a wave of both elation and surprise wash over me, stunning me briefly. I wasn't used to being approached by others, so I was taken aback. I couldn't even remember the last time I'd been in a study group. It must have been years.

I gathered a few of my belongings closer to me to make room for my new guests and chirped, "Of course you can." I met each of their gazes again, "No need to ask."
