With his one arm still pinning me and his hand still holding my chin, he glanced down at my pocket where the buzzing had originated from. I swallowed, nervously anticipating his reaction when he merely released his grip and pulled away from me. His cold glare staked a hole straight through me as he crossed his arms against his chest.

"Well? Aren't you going to check that?" he asked, a hint of annoyance visible in his tone. I hesitated at first, but he egged me on, "Go on. Check it."

With quivering motions, I dug into my pocket and fished out my cell and turned the screen on. It was a text message from Marco. My heart sank as I felt Professor Ackerman's glare still trapped on me. For some reason, I didn't want him to know, so I faked a smile.

"It's just a text from a friend. No biggy," I grinned, scratching the back of my head nervously.

"Shouldn't you read it and reply?" he glared, his tone still laced with irritation. "It'd be rude to ignore them."

I swallowed, anxiously opening Marco's text to me. It read:

Marco Bodt

Hey! We didn't see you today. Is everything ok?

I brought my gaze to Professor Ackerman's. To say he looked displeased would have been an understatement. For the first time, I saw a real and authentic emotion hidden in his eyes. Anger. He was livid about something, but what it was was a mystery to me. He glanced down at my phone's screen and then back to me, narrowing his eyes.

"Bodt?" he snarled. "You might want to text him. You don't want to worry your boyfriend."

He began to turn away for the door, sending me into an irrational panic. I didn't want him to leave...I didn't want him to think something that wasn't true. I gripped my phone to my chest and lowered my head, thinking of what to do. I had never been so scared to see someone walk away in all my life, but at that moment, I was petrified. I wanted -no- I needed him to stay.

Some bizarre force rose up within me and coached me to almost whimper, "No. Please don't leave."

He paused and turned his head to face me, "Hmm? What was that?"

"I said, please don't leave," I begged, my voice still too low.

He arranged his body so his was sideways and held one of his hands to his ear, "Come again?"

I bit my bottom lip and squeezed my eyes shut, yelling, "Don't leave!" I opened my eyes and brought them to him, panting, "Please don't go. Please don't leave." I tossed my phone to the nearby couch and continued, "Marco's not my boyfriend. Jean's not my boyfriend. Connie's not my boyfriend...I have no boyfriend."

He nodded to the phone, his stoic expression back and pressed on, "Are you sure about that?"

I glanced at the phone and then back at him. He stood there motionless, his hands shoved into the pockets of his slacks. His stare was locked onto me, searching and waiting for what I'd say or do next. To be honest, I was waiting to see what I'd do next too. Something was snapping within me, making me behave and react in ways I would never have before and that almost terrified me...almost. It also exhilarated me.

I stood straight up and composed myself, nodding, "Yes. I am positive about that."

His eyes narrowed as one of the corners of his lips drew up. He removed his hands out of his pockets and trotted back over to me. He hovered over me, his eyes boarding into my own as he stepped closer. He once again leaned most of his weight on one arm as he supported himself on the wall. His other hand grasped my chin, forcing me to meet his stare, though I made no effort to glance away this time. His body was nearly pressing against mine as his hot breath brushed my ear.

"Good," he breathed while he thumb stroked my lip. "Otherwise, I couldn't do this."

I was about to ask what he meant when he abruptly slammed his lips against mine...
