--------
Ringo walks into his room and closes the door behind him, not bothering to lock it. He knows he's overreacting, considering him and Becca weren't even close to being together. But something inside him just snapped. The fact that she was pregnant with the baby of a man who went after her sister is just wrong. All wrong.
Rebecca doesn't come right away. But soon, she is standing in the doorway, her face emotionless. She walks inside and closes the door again, and sits on the bed beside him, placing her hand on his knee.
"Rings, what's wrong?" She asks him calmly. It's obvious she already knows, but just needs something to say.
"Why didn't you tell me sooner?" He mutters, not lifting his head from where it's place on his pillow.
"I wanted to tell you all together. It seemed like the best thing to do." She murmurs, a small tear stinging in her eye. "I didn't plan it, Ringo, you know that. I didn't want..." She lightly touches her stomach. "But now it's unavoidable. I do want this now."
"What about Will?" Ringo turns over to face her.
"I sent him a letter. But I'm going to explain to him that if he doesn't want to be there at all, he doesn't have to. " Rebecca pulls a piece of hair back from her face. "And I'm not going back to him."
Ringo breathes a sigh of relief. "Becky... I know this is going to be hard for you, so I need you to know... I'll be 'ere. For you." He takes her now shaking hand in his.
She nods. "I know, Ringo. And I'm grateful for that."
They sit in silence. Ringo's hand is rough and calloused from years of drumming, but it makes Rebecca feel somehow protected. She stares at him for a long time, but his eyes are on their hands. He rubs his thumb against hers in a comforting way.
Soon she beaks the silence. "I think I love you." Becca whispers.
Ringo smiles. "So it's not just me. "
Rebecca kisses Ringo softly on the nose. "I have always wanted to do that. No kidding." Ringo blushes and shakes his head.
"You're too good for me." Ringo smiles.
"Hold it." Rebecca raises her hands up. "You're drummer for the biggest boy band in the world. Not to mention really sweet, and nice, and really, really good looking." She breathes.
"Er, thanks." He blushes deep red.
"Let's go back to the living room." Becca stands up, then pauses. "Do you have a place for me to sleep tonight? I have a feeling Amber and George aren't going to want me there."
Ringo nods. "As long as you're okay with sleeping on a cot in the basement." He smiles sheepishly. "Or I can use the couch and you can sleep in my bed."
She kisses his cheek again. "Hope you don't mind."
"No, I like the couch." He shrugs, opening the door.
Allyson is laying on the couch, laughing uncontrollably because Paul is tickling her stomach. "Rings! I found out Ally has a tickle spot!" She tries to push him away, but he doesn't let her move.
"Paul. Be professional, please. At least a little." Brian tries to keep a straight face but a smile breaks through.
"Aw." Paul pulls away. "Sorry, Ally."
"Don't be sorry." She straightens her top. "It was actually kind of fun."
Rebecca's dad clears his throat. "So... Do we have any plans for where I'll be staying tonight?"
Paul's eyes widen. "Well, we initially thought you'd be stayin' at Amber's house, but that doesn't really seem like and option now-"
John's loud laughter cuts him off. "Yeah- you don't know what'll be happenin' there."
Paul elbows him hard. "Ouch!" John holds his side in pain, but continues laughing.
Ringo sighs. "Rebecca has to stay here too. She's taking my bed, and I'm sleeping down here."
"I don't actually plan on sleeping, considering my daughter may or may not be engaged. How about you boys stay down here with me, we have a talk?" Mr.Reed sits on the couch, folding his arms across his chest.
"I'd actually like that." Ringo sits down next to him, obviously wanting to make a good impression on Rebecca's dad.
"Great. Then it's settled." Mr.Reed looks at his daughter. "Goodnight, sweetie."
"'Night, dad." Becca slowly walks out of the room, back towards Ringo's.
As she sits on the bed, questions fill her thoughts. Most of them about how Amber and George are doing. Rebecca doen't doubt that there were some troubles, but knows that when she next sees them, there will be a shining ring on her little sister's pale finger. And huge smiles on both their faces, because that's just how they feel.
And Rebecca was right.
I might cry, but...
THE END.
