Omniscient POV
Grecia sat with her two closest companions of all time. The twins sipped their tea, sitting at the small intimate table with her. Amber, the older twin, couldn't stop smiling once she stepped foot through the door. She hadn't seen Grecia since Christopher's funeral, and the time before that was at her own parent's funeral. Amber was ecstatic to see her best friend, although she and her brother Midas could not shake the guilt of not coming to visit her after Christopher's death.
Edward set down a plate with apple pie between them. Amber winked at him. "Hello handsome, long time no see."
"I don't get paid enough for this." Edward muttered, walking off.
"Hey!" Amber exclaimed, batting her eyes. "You could be king of my land if only you'd say yes."
"That's my title." Midas said, sipping his tea with a grin hiding in his cup. His golden gaze peered at Grecia over his cup, and she looked back with pure happiness. He was like a brother to her, although she always had a life-long crush on the boy. It wasn't anything serious, more of something that just grew with her considering as children they would play house. Grecia was the mother role, while Midas played the father. She recalled he was technically her very first kiss, for when they were ten years old they held a small pretend wedding where another friend had wed them. They quickly kissed - if you could even call it that - before retaliating in how gross the other had found it.
It had been her only kiss up until Derek.
"So, as we were saying," Amber continued, averting her orangish gaze towards her. "Tell us more about this boy you were talking about." Both of the twins listened with interest, although Midas couldn't help but cross his arms.
"He'll never be better than Isidore." He argued, almost pouting.
"Okay, Midas." Amber rolled her eyes. "We all know you both are secretly in love with your little bromance, but let's hear Grecia out."
"Thank you." Grecia said, gesturing towards her honey-blonde friend. She set her chin in her palms, smiling. "He's a commoner, really. But he's different, it's not like he feels the need to bow down to me. He makes it feel... normal, I suppose the word is. We went on a date yesterday, and I even kissed him." her face began to grow red and she looked away from their shocked gazes.
"Kissed him?" Amber asked in surprise.
"How long have you known the guy?" Midas asked, and Grecia sighed, not prepared for the hundred questions he was going to ask.
"I don't know. A week? Maybe? But I had to stop it. I felt guilty." Grecia suddenly turned red. It did sound silly saying it out loud, but she knew something about Derek was special. Fate didn't just bring a royal and commoner together for no reason whatsoever.
