Soo Ah's eyes fluttered open as the sunlight coming from her window hit her face. She looked around, finding Hansol asleep next to her. She smiled as she stared at him. Unconsciously, her hand began to cup his cheek, her thumb rubbing his cheekbone lightly. Soo Ah got up and brushed her teeth and washed her face. She came back and sat closer to him, moving the hair from his eyes. Hansol's eyes then started to open, he blinked a few times before realizing the girl staring down at him.
"Soo Ah? What are you doing?" He asked laughing awkwardly.
Soo Ah quickly got up and rushed to the kitchen to avoid any further eye contact.
"Um.. nothing. I was just moving the hair from your face." She managed to say calmly. "What do you want for breakfast?"
"Whatever you're having. Oh and do you have a toothbrush I can use? I kinda didn't bring mine.." Hansol said cheekily.
"Um yeah let me go get it." Soo Ah walked back into the bathroom and took out a new toothbrush from the cabinet under the sink. She handed it to him and let him do his business.
Hansol walked out of bathroom five minutes later to find two bowls of cereal on the table. He quickly sat down and began to shovel spoonfuls of fruit loops into his mouth. Soo Ah laughed.
"Dude you're going to choke. Slow down!" She scolded him.
"I'm sorry! I just really like these!" He confessed. "But wow! We didn't even make it to 5 am yesterday! We're weak!" He exclaimed.
"Well that's why they say sleep is for the weak.." Soo Ah responded nonchalantly. "But since we're talking about yesterday night.. Tell me about you." She said straightforwardly.
Hansol looked at her and then looked down at the table. "Well it's only fair so I guess I will," He started.
"When I was 5, my baby sister Sofia was born. I love her so much! We get along well and I talk to her as much as I can. But when she turned 12, my parents decided to move back to America. They wanted to put her in a school somewhere in New York. At the time I was really attached to my friends and my school, and since I was going to be 18 soon, I decided to stay here alone." He sighed as he finished.
"So you lived alone here in Korea too?" Soo Ah asked. "How come you didn't move to America with them? Like I understand the friend situation but New York sounds nice.."
"I'm actually trying to pursue a career in rapping. I've been rapping since I was 8. I really like the vibes and just being able to express yourself in that creative way is something I've come to love. So that's why I stayed, and also why I didn't like hearing you say that you felt alone.." Hansol spoke glumly.
"At first, living here alone was the hardest thing I've ever had to do. I would stay at a friends house for weeks, and it was so hard to get any jobs because they wanted people with experience. Every day was like torture for me, I didn't have anyone to rely on. But I surpassed it, and now I'm living calmly in my apartment. It's a lot to get used to alone, so I want to make it easier for you." He smiled at her.
Soo Ah could only stare wide eyed at the boy, she was completely taken aback at his words and her heart began to race like before. She felt tears start to form in the corners of her eyes, but she didn't feel sad.
"H-Hansol.. Thank you.." she said as she blinked her tears away. Hansol smiled at her as he got up and picked up the bowls, walking over to the sink to wash them.
"You're welcome. Plus it's fun having a friend to bother!" He said, his happy virus vibe coming back. He scrubbed the bowls thoroughly and placed them in the rack to dry off.
"Come on!" He ran out the kitchen pulling Soo Ah over to the couch with him. "Let's watch W Two Worlds! They're playing a rerun of it!" He switched the channels impatiently trying to find the show he was looking for. Soon it popped up and he sat back against the couch and watched eagerly.
Soo Ah and Hansol spent the rest of the hour watching W Two Worlds. It was now two o'clock in the afternoon. Soo Ah got up and stretched, and Hansol decided it was a fun idea to kick her, making her fall on her face. He laughed loudly as Soo Ah got up grumpily. She faced him with an angry face and balled her hand into a fist.
"You bastard! I oughta shove my foot up your-" Soo Ah was cut off by Hansol.
"Let's go walk around! There's a food festival a few blocks from here! You can go and try some new food! We can go half and half!" He said waving his arms around like a child.
"You know.. that actually sounds like fun. Well how about we both start to get ready and we'll meet outside the apartment building around 3:30, yeah?" She said pushing him towards the door.
"Okay! See you at 3!" Hansol said walking out of her apartment and towards his own.
"3:30!" Soo Ah corrected him as she walked back into her home. She ran into her bathroom and started to shower.
