"Our Nation"
by: Kaila J. Richards
Black power
The ability to make it ours
But we choose to turn it sour
And show no love to our power
We should cherish our color
And show that we are more than a classification of "others"
And show how much a color
Can be defined much more than "others"
Not by the pigment of our skin
But the mindset of a blooming flower
We will show the whites how we can discover
Not the newest drug
But the newest mindset that others want to devour
We can show them how we can become one and rely on each other
Because this is Black Power
And no black should be discouraged because of the pigment of their color
"Stars"
by:KJR
It was like stars hit me
But they completely missed me
I was there for you
But you turned me blue
I tried to be with you
Not just to sleep with you
But to love you
But not to suffocate you
Your what i wanted
But i never flaunted it
I showed you my love
And more sure i went above
Before someone else could snatch you
But i was frozen like a statue
As you walked away with the next dude
And it felt like the stars hit me
And this time it didn't miss me
"Societies Problems"
by:KJR
We come together to rise up
And show that we are one within
Not by the complexion of our skin
We will overcome the detestation that we get
And show we are more the just black women and men
We will show that we can become doctors and scientist
And we are more than drug dealers and alcoholics
We will show that the pigment of our skin
Has nothing to do with the way that we live
But the history that our ancestors lived
We will show that we are more than "niggas"
And slaves to the average rich white kids
A month to learn about African Americans
But a year to learn about white children and men
But it's not just us it's everyone who isn't born Caucasian
