Sixth Grade
"Oh my gosh, Emma give it back!" Regina said, trying to reach for her book, her friend took from her.
"Only if you promise not to tell you-know-who I like him." Emma said glancing over at a boy. He was short, but still taller than Emma. He had messy black hair and bright blue eyes. He had a British accent and always wore black.
Regina smirked at her friend. "Fine. I promise not to tell Killian." And she held out her pinkie to Emma. Emma hooked her pinkie around Regina's. Emma handed Regina her book back, and she continued reading it.
"So," Emma said leaning closer to Regina. "Do have a crush on any of the boys right now?"
Regina hesitated and looked around the room. "No."
"Really? Because earlier I saw you staring at Jefferson."
"I wasn't staring at him I was looking out the window."
"That's the worst excuse I've ever heard."
Regina pushed up her glasses, and tucked a loose strand of her dark behind her ear.
"I don't like Jefferson, okay?" Regina said whispering.
Just as Emma was about to answer the bell rang. "We'll discuss this later." Emma said narrowing her eyes and turning around. Regina just rolled her eyes and went back to reading her book. The teacher walked in.
"Good morning class!" The teacher said, putting his things in his desk.
"Good morning Mr. Whale." The class said in unison unenthusiastically.
Mr. Whale was a young man, mid thirties, Regina guessed. He had snort dirty blonde hair and also had blue eyes (not as blue as Killian's though).
"We have a new student joining us today." Mr. Whale announced.
Everybody looked around for the new student (not including Regina, she was too busy reading).
"Mr. Locksley," Mr. Whale said waving his hand to a boy in the back row of seats. "Please come up here, and introduce yourself to the class."
Everybody turned around to watch as the young boy hesitantly walked up to the front of the class. He turned around and looked at everybody. Everybody was looking at him, well except for one person.
"Regina!" Mr. Whale said sharply. "Can you please put down your book and focus your attention on our new student?"
Regina sighed and put her book down gently in front of her. She crossed her arms and leaned back in her chair. Everyone else in the classroom giggled.
Regina looked up at the new student in the front of the class. The first thing she noticed was his ocean blue eyes. She couldn't look away from them. He caught her staring at him. He didn't look at her weird. He winked at her. She quickly looked away from him to hide her blush. However she came crashing back into reality she she heard Mr. Whale speak. "You may introduce yourself now."
"Umm, hi. My name is Robin Locksley. I, uh, moved here from England with my mum, dad and little brother Roland. And, uh, I love archery." He scratched the back of his head and looked down at the floor.England. Regina repeated in her mind. That explains the accent. Once Robin was down introducing himself, Regina picked up her book again and began reading agin.
"Thank you Robin. You may now have a seat." Mr. Whale said. Robin walked back to his seat, quickly glancing at Regina who had her nose in her book. "Ok class. As you know you have a science test on Thursday. I will let you study in pairs, in a group, or by yourself for the rest of the period and don't forget—REGINA!!"
Regina snapped her head upwards from her book. "Please bring me your book, right now!" Mr. Whale said in a stern voice.
Regina, slowly walked up to the front of the class, and handed Mr. Whale her book (she made she she marked her page before she handed it to him). He whispered in her ear. "We'll talk after class."
She walked back to her desk. Emma turned around and gave Regina a look. She could only respond with a shoulder shrug.
Everybody got up at once and got into their groups, including Emma and Regina. "Ok. First question. Which of the following gases do plants use in photosynthesis? A. Hydrogen, B. Oxygen, C. Carbon dioxide, or D. Carbon monoxide?" Regina asked, looking at the notecards in her hand.
"Umm..." Emma thought.
"Isn't it carbon dioxide?" A voice from behind Emma asked. Regina looked up to see Robin standing behind Emma.
"Yes. That is correct." Regina said blankly, raising her eyebrow.
"Sorry to barge in, but may I join you two ladies? I need to study, and I don't really know anybody." Robin said running his hand through his hair.
"Sure. Why not?" Emma said enthusiastically.
Regina didn't say anything. She just looked at her notecards.
