I've been lying in bed staring at the ceiling for the past hour trying to process everything Mae told. Trying to conceive the idea of Mae having a stalker.

I received about 10 missed calls from Eli. Oh never mind make that 11. I don't want to answer, I know why he's calling, I promised Mae to keep this a secret as I know I can't keep much from Eli, best not talk to him until I make up a convincing cover story.

I hear something moving outside my window, I jump out of bed and pick up the bat I keep under my bed (hey you can never be to careful so don't make fun of me!!). I quietly slide open my window. I was just about to beat that damn bush outside my window when suddenly a head pops out of it shouting "NO please don't" It was Eli. These are the moments why I question our friendship.

"What the fuck are you doing?! When a girl ignores your calls it generally means she wants to be left alone!" I snap at him.

" look I'm sorry" he says sheepishly,
"I thought something happened to you."

"SO YOU COULDN'T HAVE RANG THE DOOR BELL LIKE A NORMAL PERSON?!"
I take a deep breath in attempt to calm myself.
"you scared the shit out of me, you asshole!"

" I'm sorry can I get in now?"

I step back to let him in. I feel bad for lashing out at him. This isn't the first time he entered my house like that, but to be honest after what Mae told me, I thought that I was being watched myself.

"So tell me Nina, what did she talk to you about?? Is she a murderer like you thought or a Russian spy???" He says eagerly

I give him my death stare. Obviously I couldn't tell him the truth but Eli is the only person I never lie to, but hey I guess today is the day. I mean I'm the master of lies, my life depends on it. Shouldn't be that hard. Now kids watch and learn ( don't forget to take notes)

" hahaha very funny Eli, but no the truth is ......the truth is ..... "(I can't do it, why can't I do it , he's staring at me eyes wide and puppy dog like, waiting for an explanation) "Mae has a stalker who won't leave her alone so she changed her name and moved back here and she's asked me to help her but I'm so fracking paranoid now that I think I'm getting stalked too" I speed through those last sentences with no breath to spare

"WOW slow down there, she has what and did what?!?!?" Its clear I've caught him off guard, although I can't help but wonder why this is more surprising then Mae being a murderer or a spy.

" shhhhhhh, lower your voice, I wasn't suppose to tell you this " I whisper frantically.

I hear a knock on my door, my heart starts racing. It swings open to reveal my mom.

"Dinner will be ready in 5-, oh hello Eli Nina didn't tell me you were coming over, but there's plenty to go around, you better be staying for dinner and I'm not taking no for an answer"

"Of course I will Mrs. Pennton" he says with a charming smile. When did Eli get better at covering up then me?

My mother is the best, me and Eli have grown so close he's practically like a brother to me, so mam always makes sure she has enough food in case he spontaneously shows up at our door...or window. Her food is the best, after all she is a professional chef and I'm not surprised why Eli's always here for dinner if my mam cooked like his mom cooks, I'll be having dinner at my friends house as often as I could too.

" let's go I'll explain everything after"
I hiss at him.

It's nice having Eli here because usually it's just my mom and me since the divorce, mom got full custody so I barely see him.
