I was staring at the clock impatiently. Not only did this maths class feel like an eternity, but also I couldn't wait to go to Juno's. I needed an explanation not only because I'm the nosiest person in the world, but because I actually cared. There's definitely something up with Mae. I could tell by her face expression that she wasn't keen on telling me what's going on, if I didn't know any better, I would say she was in some sort of trouble. On the other hand that would be impossible, she is a goody too shoes and there's no way she would hurt anyone or do anything that would go on her criminal record. If that ever happened she would probably have a heart attack and die because her perfect record would be finished! But what could....

"Ms.Pennton the answer please"

I looked up in surprise, Ms.Madden totally got be off guard, usually I can pretend I'm paying attention really well so what the hell happened.

"Just say 34." Eli whispers subtly beside me, I swear I owe him my life.

" The answer would be 34" I said giving her a wide grin.

" Good! but next time pay attention because Eli won't always have the answer" she says pointedly.

My face drops, apparently Eli wasn't as subtle as I thought.

I nodded pretending to actually care. Okay 5 more minutes and I'm out of here. I glance out the window, I could swear I saw a figure disappear from behind a tree. I turn to Eli about to ask if he saw it too, but he stays focused on the board after just being caught. I could have sworn I saw someone standing there... or maybe my mind is playing tricks with me, I haven't slept in a week. This isn't the first time something like this happened, for that past week or so I've had the unshakable feeling of being watched,but Eli always assures me there's no one there. I'm just really paranoid lately I haven't been getting much sleep.

The bell rings, I spring up and throw my books into my bag. I was prepared to sprint out of the classroom but Eli grabs me by the arm.

" What" I snap at him harsher then I mean to, " I'm in a hurry you know that , let go of me "

He focuses his eyes on his shoes. " Listen Nina, I don't think you should go alone, I mean don't you think she acted strange , let me come with you" he pleads.

" What? No! Don't be stupid, she isn't gonna fucking kill me. Plus, strange is in Mae's nature. I can take care of myself you really need to stop following me everywhere I have to go Eli, let me do this on my own"

Eli retracts his arm slowly I know I was a little out of line, I mean he is just looking out for me. But part of me thinks he needed to hear that. I feel like lately he's gone more and more over protective and to be honest it's starting to get really annoying! I mean out of everyone in this school I can definitely take care of myself he needs to take a few steps back and chill!!

He eventually let go of my arm and stared at me with 'The Eli stare', if you don't know what that looks like its a mixture of disappointment and anger, its like he can't make up his fucking mind. But I really didn't have time to apologies I needed to go.

I wait outside of junos fow what seem like days, thinking of all the possible scenarios Mae could surprise me with. Maybe she murdered someone or got expelled or someone in her family died, so many thoughts conceived in my mind. I checked my phone for the time. Where on earth is that child!! she's never late, and I swear if she's standing me up Ill make her life here a living hell. When I see her in school tomorrow she is gonna be sorry. I jump in my car slamming the door behind. I shove my keys in the ignition and start the engine when suddenly the passenger car door swings open.
