6.30am and my alarm rings waking me up. As I get up I notice the smell of pancakes so decide to head to the kitchen to check it out. As I walk in I see my dad at the stove "Morning dad" I say causing him to jump. "Hey kiddo you scared me!" "Sorry pops, what are you making?" I ask "Well since I had to leave early for work yesterday we didn't get the chance to have our traditional 'first day at school breakfast' so I'm making up for it today by making your favourite chocolate chip pancakes!" He says while flipping a pancake "grab a seat these are nearly ready"
It's so great to get to be eating breakfast with my dad, I've hardly seen him all summer because he's been working so much. "So how was the first day back?" He asks "Erm yeah it was good, pretty standard day really, lots of classes, teachers telling us it's going to be tough and seeing my friends" I reply while avoiding eye contact because I don't want to talk about it too much since I'm still kind of in shock about what happened with Cammie. "Well hun it's your final year so work hard and enjoy it!" He says giving me his big smile "Thanks dad! And thanks for breakfast but I kinda need to go get ready for school" "Yeah don't worry about cleaning up, you know how much I enjoy it" he sarcastically shouts after me "Thanks you're the best"
I drive myself to school and walk to my locker to get my stuff for class and hopefully my friends will be there so I don't have to look like a loser being stuck all by myself! It's just my luck I can't find any of my friends and Ally is running late so I head to English class. When I get there the door is locked but Cammie is there also waiting so it's not all bad, as we're chatting Mr Duncan arrives and let's us in and we take our seats as the rest of the students arrive.
"Good morning class, I hope you all made good use of yesterday's class to get to know your partner because today I have an assignment for you to complete, I'd like a short essay about friendship and what it means to you. You've got the whole week to complete it in class but if you don't manage to finish it then it will become homework over the weekend. I'd like you all to think about friendships you've had throughout your life and what made them good or bad, and think about how long they lasted? There's no word limit for this but please take your time and really think about what you're writing." As he speaks I see Cammie shuffle her chair closer to me "So this should be easy, we can just write about how me met and what made us be the best friends ever!" She says to me with a big grin on her face "Yeah hopefully we can finish in time so we have a free weekend."
We spend the rest of the class working on our essay and for the first time ever I'm actually enjoying writing essays, must be because of the company!
