Alexandra's POV

The soft sounds of violins filled my ears as I walked through the large double doors to find a massive room. My head begun spinning as I tried to take inevery detail.

A grand mahogany staircase with red carpeting stripped down the middle led to one of the largest rooms I've ever seen. The floors continued to be mahogany that reflected suits, dresses, heels, table legs, and the magnificent chandeliers that hung from the ceiling.

Bright, white lights emitted from the white golden chandeliers that matched the golden archways that separated the dance floor from the tables. The tables matched the white and gold theme, the cloth was all white with gold trimming. The chairs matched the pure white tablecloth. In the center of each table was a golden vase with a bouquet of red roses and a white ribbon wrapped around the middle.

"Mate of future Alpha, Jason Watters, and sister to future Beta, Nathan Connel. Future Luna of the Rose Blood Pack, Alexandra Connel." A voice announced with formality as I remained in my trance.

It wasn't until the man cleared his throat that I tore my eyes away from the decor. A blush creeped onto my face before I looked back at Madam. She nodded and ushered for me to continue.

I looked straight ahead with my head held high and grabbed the railing on the large staircase. I kept my lips in a firm line as my free hand lifted up he front of my dress some so I wouldn't step on it. I descended down the stairs with Madam not far behind.

Applause, chuckles, and whispers drowned out the violins. I scanned the room as I reached the last step. My eyes landed on Jason who was ushering me to come over. At his side was my "brother". They were in a circle of people who looked very important.

Well, everyone in this room is important!

They're alphas and lunas and betas and deltas!

I shook off the thoughts and tried to calm down. Jason was still beckoning for me to come. I smiled slightly and shook my head. That only earned me demanding eyes that told me if I didn't come now, things would be worse later.

I internally sighed before slowly walking to Jason. His arm snaked around my waist and pressed his side against mine. He went to kiss my cheek and I quickly blocked his lips with my index finger.

"You'll smudge my makeup sweetie." I told him with a fake smile.

"You don't need it, you're already so beautiful." Jason said through gritted teeth.

The people in the circle didn't seem to notice the silent hate we harbored. In fact, his statement earned a couple of awes from the women and words of agreement from the men. Jason leaned down and put his mouth next to my ear so only I would hear what he had to say.

"I've been patient with you, Alex. Tonight after father steps down and I assume title, you will accept the title as luna. Then when we get home I'm going to mark you and mate you." Jason lowly growled in my ear sending shivers down my spine.

Jason pulled away from my ear and winked at the men who smirked. The women noticed the goosebumps on my arm and giggled at what they probably thought were dirty words Jason whispered. They were dead wrong.

After about half of an hour of introductions, handshakes, avoiding eye contact with Nathan, and Jason's hand being placed on my bum, I finally managed to slink away from the group.

My head spun as Jason's words played in my mind. I made my way to an empty table and sat down. A waiter came around with bubbly drinks on a silver platter and offered on to me. After slightly hesitating, I grabbed one and took a small sip of the strange liquid. It had traces of alcohol but it wasn't strong. It tasted more sofa than a beer or anything like that.

I placed the drink down and began rubbing my temples. Madam is supposed to be watching me, but she's too busy flirting with the males without their mates. I rolled my eyes at her desperation and sighed. After another glance in her direction, I leaned my head back and stared at the ceiling.

Jason is going to force his mark on me tonight. He'll be my mate. His claim on me will be physical. If that wasn't enough, he's going to force me to mate with him.

Not if I have any say in it!

That's the problem, we don't have a say! You're more jumpy than usual. Just calm down and stop pacing around!

I was snapped out of my conversation as someone sat down next to me. I drew my attention from the ceiling to the now occupied seat. The seat was filled by none other than Nathan.

We sat in silence for a few minutes. He stared at me as I averted my eyes to the displayed roses.

He cleared his throat and I glanced at him. He gave me a small smile before looking over at Madam.

"Could she get more desperate?" He said causing a small smile to appear on my face.

He always could make me smile. When I was little and I was sad he would always cheer me up. Every now and then after our parents died he would joke with me and give me a smile.

"Listen, I'm sorry about... everything. It's just... their deaths were hard on me and I was consumed by grief and the pressure to be the next beta." Nathan let out a sigh as he looked at me with pity.

"Their deaths were hard on me too! On top of my grief was abuse! Verbal and physical! Now you decide to apologize because I'm mated to your precious alpha?!" I asked in hushed but angered tone.

"I know that it's a set up. That you're not real mates. He told me about his real mate and I.... suggested that he choose you." He said while avoiding my gaze.

"You what?! Did you never stop to think about ME?! He's going to force his mark and force me to mate with him!" I said, my voice getting louder and drawing the attention of a few people.

"Shhh! I was thinking about you! He's an alpha, most girls would kill for the position of luna! No one will hurt you anymore, no one would dare abuse their luna!"

"No more abuse?!" I asked him angrily before wiping some of the makeup off my neck to reveal the marks left by Jason's hands.

"Aly..." Nathan trailed off as he stared wide eyed at my neck.

"Don't. Don't Aly me!" I told him before getting up and exiting the ball room through a set of double doors.

Tears threatened to spill down my face as I pressed my back against the walls of the corridor. I wrapped my arms around myself as a few tears escaped my eyes.

How could Nathan do this to me?!

He promised to always take care of me..

I still have to face the whole room and accept role as luna...

What have I done to deserve this?!

My legs started moving involuntarily. I stalked towards a strange smell. It was unbelievably intoxicating. My nose followed the strong musky and piney scent. The scent is so hard to describe but it clouded all of my senses and thoughts. I could faintly hear my wolf mumbling something as the scent grew stronger.

As I turned the corner of the hallway I slammed into a wall. I shrieked and began falling backwards before being caught by the wrists. The strong and calloused hands that were wrapped around my lower arms pulled me back to the wall. Scratch that, the large and toned body that had a pitch black suit clinging to it with a light pink flower in the chest pocket. I looked up at the man and studied his face.

Short chestnut hair rested atop of his head. I found hazel eyes with specks of gold scanning my face. His teeth where sunk in his beautifully plump lips. His mesmerizing diamond shaped face had a golden tan to accompany it. His large, solid, broad-shouldered frame towered over my petite one.

After a few moments of examining the other's appearance, he stook his nose in the crook of my neck and began inhaling my scent. I took a deep breath and quietly moaned as I realized he was emitting the heavenly scent I had been following.

He pulled away and looked at me with pitch black eyes before saying the word my wolf had been mumbling.

"Mate."
