Harris' P.O.V
The sun had risen and it was another day again. Soon, I was up and ready and slipped into my sweater. December was approaching and so was winter. The weather had started to become a bit, uncomfortably cold and the weather forecast reported slight snowfalls in some parts of America.
I was so excited for winter to approach. ''First of all, there's the Xmas holidays so that means an enormous break from school. Second, I could see snow falling around everywhere and watch the snowflakes fall on my glassy ceiling though it will be soon foggy and covered with snow till winter's over. Thirdly, I could go and chill out with Jake and.....'' and that was when I realized again that Jake and I were no longer friends.
All that sudden-erupted joy and happiness went away and I slumped into my bed, facing my window. The sky was a bit dark and the world outside looked gloomy. Christmas was going to be gloomy for me too, this time.
A sense of being friendless and loneliness ascended upon me and I felt my chest going down and heavy. ''Well, there's no time to ponder about all this. It's just my fate and I have to move on. Perhaps in the future, I would gain back Jake or get another understanding friend who will never act as foolishly as Jake did.'' and suddenly, I was filled with hatred towards him.
I neither went behind his back and pleaded with and we stopped sitting together. I took the first initiative by requesting to Mrs. Greene before everyone in my class if I could change my seat! She was confused as to why I would place such an odd request to her.
There were a few whispery 'what!?' and 'eh?'s from both the girls and the boys. Mrs. Greene agreed, thinking that there may be a reason for this though there was actually NO reason but hatred so she gave me another seat with Ron, who was only glad to have me.
Jake looked quite seriously and coldly at me, though his eyes betrayed signs of confusion and surprise. I looked back, expressionless at him and taking my bag, I went and sat near Ron. I did not feel difficult at all, to do this as I was fed up and angry with Jake for having such silly misconceptions about me.....me, who was his always loyal and true friend.
I tried to debate and tell myself that there was no need for all this and that it was silly but it did not work. However, I did not rebuke him or tell him something bad just because he was not my friend now....no, I could never do that.
I still had some sort of...manners, when dealing with people...even though they are not my friends anymore!
To make matters worse, since Jake was lonely right now in the place where he sat, Mrs. Greene told Roger to go and sit with him. My blood froze; couldn't she have chosen someone better? Roger got up and turned to the place where Jake was sitting.
There was a smile of triumph on his face. He then caught my eye and gave me the most evil smile I have ever seen from him. I was sure that he was so not going to leave Jake alone. A part of my mind told me that I should watch what was going on between Jake and Roger while the other part told me to mind my own business.
I chose the second option; of course, it was very sure that Jake would no longer pay heed to me if I tried to warn him of Roger. I dreaded to see him become friends with Roger! Something like that could happen now as Roger could take advantage of the damage that had happened beyond repair between us.
As the days flew by, I knew that what I had really dreaded had happened for the worst; Roger and Jake were friends now! At first, Jake was hesitant but soon, Roger got his trust by pretending to be innocent and sorry for him and I was really surprised to see that Jake had become so foolish to fall for his words!
But fortunately, Jake didn't really fall for Roger's 'innocence' even when Roger still tried his best to inject his mind with poisonous and nonsense things about me; Jake still had a mind of his own and and spoke and heard less of Roger.
