The next morning Neveah scampered down the stair case of the Newman mansion. "Good morning!" she shouted as she rushed into the living room. Nikki sat on the couch with a cup of coffee in her hands, "Well good morning to you too." She smiled. With Neveah around the house seemed so full of life and happiness. "Did you and Daddy have a fight last night?" she asked sitting next to Nikki. "No why do you say that?" Nikki placed her cup on the table. "I heard a door slam when I was sleeping." Nikki laughed, for having just turned four Neveah was extremely inquisitive. "No honey your Daddy just shut the bedroom door too fast that's why it was loud." She lied. "Oh why did he shut it so fast?" "You're not giving up are you? Why don't you just ask him?" "Where is he?" "Now that I don't know. Let's go see." Nikki picked up her daughter and carried her to the kitchen. There was Victor at the stove making pancakes, "Good morning ladies." He smiled. Nikki put Neveah down and she ran to Victor, "Daddy" she said putting her hands on her hips. "Yes?" "Why were you slamming doors last night?" Victor looked up at his wife, she just smiled. "What are you talking about? There were no slamming doors here last night." He replied flipping a pancake. "Mama said you did it." Neveah said pulling up her step stool so she could reach the stove to watch the pancakes cook. "Did she now?" Victor smiled. "Yep." Neveah reached her hand to touch one of the pancakes. "No sweetheart that's hot remember?" Victor remind her calmly. "Oh whoops" she giggled pulling her hand back. "Hey Neveah" Nikki said "Daddy told me he was going to take us to the park today." The little girl grinned, "Can we show Mama the swings>" she asked Victor. "We can show her whatever you want Princess. Just after breakfast of course." Neveah hopped down from her stool, "Can you help me get dressed?" she asked Nikki. "I would love to." Neveah took her mother's hand and pulled her up the stairs to her bedroom.

After breakfast Victor drove Nikki and Neveah to Crimson Lights for some coffee. Nikki ordered a latte and Neveah got a cup of orange juice. They sat at the table outside the coffee shop and just spent time together, just the three of them. "Daddy always gets black coffee. Yuck." Neveah was telling Nikki. "His taste in coffee has never been very good." Nikki laughed. "No ganging up on m girls." Victor chuckled drinking his coffee. "I think ganging up on you is just what we need to do." Nikki replied holding Neveah close on her lap. "Fine I see how it is." Victor said just as his phone rang. He looked down at it and frowned, "I'm sorry but I have to go into the office." "Nooooo" Nikki and Neveah whined in unison Victor looked at them, now that he was seeing them side by side Nevaeh was really the spitting image of her mother. "I'll be back before dinner." He said. "Does this mean we can't go to the park?" Neveah asked. "Mama can take you." "Yes that's right I can/ I've been to the park lots of times." Nikki smiled. "And I don't have to go to Avery's?" "No my dear, now that Mama is here she will always be with you." Victor stood up and took Neveah from Nikki. "Your Mama isn't going to let anything happen to you." "You promise?" "I promise." Victor kissed her head before putting her down. He took Nikki's hand and pulled her up from the chair, "I'll be back in a few hours." "You promise?" she asked mimicking Neveah. "This is your promise." Victor kissed her gently his hands playing in her hair. "Oh my goodness oh my goodness!" Neveah shouted covering her eyes. Nikki pulled away from victor n dlooked don at their daughter, "Honey, I think you need to get used to it." Neveah giggled, "Okay I guess I can."

Victor left for the office and Nikki took Neveah to the park. It was a fairly sunny day with mildly warm temperatures. Nikki sat on a bench as she watched Neveah play on the swings. Her long blonde hair flew in the wind every time she would go up high. The smile never leaving her tiny face. Nikki would never forgive Deacon and Chelsea for robbing her of the first years of Neveah's life. "Nikki" a voice said from behind her. Nikki stood up and turned around, "Jack?" she gasped. "It really is you?" "Of course it is." "When did you wake up?" he asked stepping closer. "A few weeks ago." She replied. "I missed you." "Oh I bet you have." She snapped. "Jack, you tried to kill me and then crashed my wedding." "Nik I didn't mean to do those things." "Save it Jack it's a little late for apologies." "It doesn't have to be." Nikki glanced at Neveah playing on the swings, then back to Jack. "I'm happy and my kids are happy so I suggest you leave it that way." "But what about what we had?" "We didn't have anything Jack you were a rebound." Over at the swings Neveah saw her mother talking to Jack Abbott or Jack Ass as her father liked to call him. She jumped off the swing and ran over to them, "Mama!" she clung to Nikki's legs. "What is it?" Nikki picked her little girl up. "Why are you talking to him?" she whispered. "You're mother and I happen to be friend's young lady." Jack growled. Nikki held Neveah tight, "You stay the hell away from me and from my daughter." She snarled and walked away holding tight to Neveah. "Mama" the little girl whispered as Nikki carried her back to the car. "Yes baby?" "Daddy doesn't like him." Nikki laughed as she placed Neveah in her car seat, "I know, neither do I." "You wanna know what Daddy calls him?"  "I think I'll pass." Nikki laughed as she got in the driver's seat. "Jack ass" the little girl giggled. Nikki put the key in the ignition, she tried not to laugh "Neveah you're not supposed to say that. She laughed as she started to drive home.

Later that night Nikki and Victor sat at the dining room table eating dinner with a very chatty Neveah. "Daddy guess who we saw today?" she was saying. "Who?" Victor asked taking a drink of is scotch. Nikki gave her daughter a look hoping she wouldn't swear again. "Jack" Neveah said "Oh well isn't that special." Victor huffed. "Hey nothing happened/" Nikki reassure him. "I'm finished." Neveah said pushing her plate to the center of the table. "Go on upstairs and get ready for bed." Victor told her. "Yes sir." Neveah hopped off her chair and ran up the stairs. "You've done a good job with her/" She told him. "It wasn't easy you know?" "I know I wish I could've been here." "You would have if it wasn't for that bastard Deacon Sharpe." "Darling, does Neveah know?" "About Deacon? No, I just told her you were sick that's why you wouldn't wake up." "Victor, I don't ever want her knowing what happened." "I agree with you baby. How did your day go with her?" "It was wonderful aside from Jack Abbott." "Did you talk to him?" "Yes, I told him to stay the hell away from us." "Did he mess with Neveah?" "She got snippy with him." "Good, I taught her well." "It appears you have also taught her to swear." "Hey she heard me say that." "Oh I bet she did." They both laughed. Neveah came back into the dining room in a pair of pink pajamas with her hair in little pigtails, "Look at my hair!" she exclaimed. "Did you do that all by yourself?" Nikki asked. "Yep Summer taught me how." She grinned as she climbed into Nikki's lap/ Victor watched the two of them, Neveah was really warming up to Nikki much faster than he had anticipated. He watched as Neveah whispered into Nikki's ear and the two of them giggled. "What is it?" he asked confused. "We have a proposition for you Mr. Newman." Nikki said. "And what might that be?" "I wanna sleep with Mommy." Neveah grinned. Victor looked at his wife and arched an eyebrow. "What if I say no?" Nikki laughed, "I don't think you want to know." "Mommy said its really bad if you sya no." Nevaeh snickered. "Well k owing your mother it must be really bad." Victor said standing up. "Pretty please." Nikki begged batting her eyelashes. "You both are going to be the death of me." He sighed. "What does that mean?" Nevaeh asked. "It means yes." Nikki told her standing up. "You get her up to bed and I'll finish cleaning these dishes." Victor said kidding Nevaeh good night. "Good night Daddy!" the little girl called as Nikki carried her up the stairs. Victor chuckled to himself as he took the dishes into the kitchen. He had never seen Nikki so close with one of their children. As much as having Nevaeh terrified him at first he now knew that she was a real blessing from heaven and Nikki had chosen the perfect name.
