John Lauren's POV
I take a swig of beer and wrap an arm around Alex. We look at our friends eating each others faces drunkenly.
"I wanna go home."
"Alex we can't! We're drunk!" I say trying to be stern.
"I don't care!!"
"Alex don't you dare step I to that car." I say sternly this time.
"Fineee but I'm going to take a nap in the car. It's loud in here."
"Fine. Don't do anything stupid, I'll join you in a minute."
"Mkkkk." Alex walks to the door, I make my way to the bathroom and as soon as I close the door to urinate I hear a screech and a slam.
"ALEX?!" I burst open the door and run outside, Laf and Herc are now alert and we subconsciously start to sober up as I look at the sight in front of me. The cars front end is slammed into a telephone pole, the pole is broken at the point of impact and has fallen to the side, thankfully not on the car. The front end is completely smashed and the only thing I can think of is I hope to god the engine isn't slammed against Alex. Rushing to the car I open the door and see the steering wheel is slammed up against Alex's head. Laf and Herc run up behind me and I yell.
"CALL A AMBULANCE!!" I feel tears just pouring out of my eyes as I check his pulse. I feel his pulse and as I go to lift him out of the car I remember that I shouldn't move him as his neck might be broken. I see blood on his face and some glass was imbedded in his chest and torso. I want to lift him out of the seat and hold him close as I stroke his hair telling him that its okay but he's not responding. As I stand in front of the ajar door I finally hear the sirens and a EMT ushering me away and to the curb.
"Sweetie you need to tell me what happened." She tries to calm me as I explain to the best of my ability the situation. Another EMT comes over and she stands up explaining what happened and she crouches back down.
"Sweetie what's his name."
"A-alexander.." I choke out. She nods to the male EMT and he goes back to the ambulance. I try to look at what they're doing. I try standing up to be by his side but the woman guides me back down to the curb.
"Honey you need to calm down, what's your name?" She looks me in the eye.
"John.." I say softer than expected.
"John, look at me and only me. You must calm down."
I look at the blonde woman, her big blue eyes stand out under the street lamps.
"John, Alex will be okay. Everything will be okay. Did you move him at all when you came out here?"
"N-no.." I slowly calm down. Wiping my eyes with my sleeve I notice I'm wearing Alex's hoodie. My head spirals into oblivion when my thoughts get caught off.
"Good. Now, how old are you?"
"18.." I say gripping onto the ends of Alex's hoodie. She places a hand on my back and rubs my back gently as she continues.
"Do you go to the public school here?"
I nod.
"Are you all peers? You and the other boys."
"Yes.." I respond. She nods and smiles softly.
A new EMT walks over and nods to the blonde woman. She smiles softly and looks back at me.
"I have to go, I will try my damnedest to make sure Alex will be okay." She stands up and places a kiss on my cheek. I nod and give her a soft Thank you. I watch as the ambulances leave. I stand up and start to walk to the car, I'm stopped by Laf grabbing my shoulders and turning my towards him.
"John, come on. Let's go inside." He says softly, ushering me into the house. They sit me on the couch and try to make me talk. I can only give short responses and nods. After a couple hours we drive to the hospital with Hercs car.
Once I'm allowed to see Alex I'm lead into his room. He's laying in bed unconscious. Laf pats my shoulder and they tell me that they're going to go home and let me have time alone. I sit at the row of chairs beside the bed and move the chair close to the bed.
"Alex.. Why didn't you listen to me.." I sob softly into the edge of the bed. I feel like my heart has been torn out of my chest and crushed, like the front of the car. But even more so. Like when you step on a small ant that just irked you. My whole body shudders as I sob, not being able to look up at my boyfriend as I feel like I would never stop crying. Like a unstoppable cascading waterfall of tears.
