"Three minutes remaining."

Lyra Arocuge glanced up at the proctor before taking a quick look around the room. The rest of her classmates were all crouched over their exams. She could hear the fierce scribbling of their pencils as they rushed to finish. Most students didn't finish the test- it was designed to be hard with the purpose to filter out the best of the best.

Luckily for Lyra, she had finished seventeen minutes ago, and had been checking her answers when the proctor gave the three minute warning.

"Two minutes remaining."

There was little time to lose. Lyra returned to her own test, and decided there wasn't enough time to check the rest of her answers. Instead, she devoted her time to cross-checking her bubble-sheet with her test booklet, and touching up on some of her bubbles to ensure that they were filled in perfectly. The final exam scores were what really mattered in the eyes of The Twelve, but Lyra believed that neatness was always a good quality to have.

"One minute remaining."

After making one last touch, Lyra closed her test booklet, pushed it to the front of her test, and placed her answer sheet on top. She set her pencil to the left of the exam materials, parallel to the two extra pencils she had brought with her. Satisfied, she leaned back and waited.

"Time is up. The examination is now over. Please leave all test materials on your desk, and be sure to take all your belongings with you. Anything you leave behind cannot be retrieved again. You are excused for the rest of the day."

There was a unified scraping of chairs against the ground as students got up. Lyra repacked her pencils and followed the crowd as they filed out of the room. Two weeks, she thought to herself. In two weeks the exam results would be disclosed. In two weeks The Choosing would start. And in two weeks, her dream would either come true or be crushed. Just two weeks. Now all she had left to do was wait.
