Pinky Fetish

Walking around town with Tanner had been the best part of my summer.

I know, it sounds silly and a little cheesy, but I had found my charmer!

Anyways...

Tanner and I walked all around town, hand in hand.

He told me all about his family as we passed huge buildings covered in commercial billboards.

His grandma lives all the way on the other side of town. Most of the elderly live on the south side of town, and more "lively" people live on the north side.

His parents moved a long time ago on business to New New York. They're both lawyers.

New York went under a huge economic crisis, so they remodeled some of the most known and loved buildings. After much of the citizens moved, the city became almost empty. They decided to start a "new New York life". Hence the name New New York.

He also said that he used to work at the grocery store around the corner, "Patricia's Pinky".

We joked about how they came up with such an odd name.

"Maybe Patricia has a fetish for pinkies!" Tanner suggested.

I giggled and added, "Or maybe its named after her pinky!"

"Rest in peace pinky... You were such a dear friend..." Tanner said dramatically with his hand over his heart.

I burst out in laughter.

I added onto our strange story, "And may our good times always be remembered."

We kept walking and soon reached the coffee store on the corner.

We walked towards the door and he let go of my hand to open the door for me.

"Ladies first."

"Why thank you my good man." I said.

He looked at me and we both tried to conceal our laughter, boiling up on the inside trying to escape.

Finally we laughed, and when we did, everyone in the shop looked at us. We tucked our heads down and went to the other side of the room.

We sat down at a table next to the window, watching cars and people cross the streets.

"You see that tree over there?" Tanner asked as he pointed to a huge maple tree across the street, surrounded by perfectly cut grass.

"That one?" I asked pointing in the same direction.

He smiled. "Yeah. My Mom always took me there on Sundays after church. I remember the time I fell off."

He gave a little laugh and said, "I really started to miss them. Its gets lonely real quick."

I looked up at him. He stared out the window, but not at anything specific. Just yonder.

"Oh. I'm sorry." I said looking down.

"Well I was lonely until now." He said as he grabbed my hand.

I looked up at him and smiled.

"Thank you." I said.

"I mean have you seen the amount of people on this shop!? How could I be lonely!?" Tanner quickly said dropping my hand and motioning to the people around us.

A few people looked at us. Again.

He smiled when he saw me look down.

"Hey. I'm kidding. Meeting you is one of the best things that has ever happened to me." Tanner said as he grabbed my hand again.

I looked up at him and smiled, realizing my life had become perfect.

...Maybe I'd spoke too soon...
