The next day L had a search done on Lights house and with my help they successfully got the notebook. After a series of test it was concluded that not only did the book work, but it belonged to Light as well. He had a trial and was naturally presumed guilty, his sentence was the death penalty. I wasn't allowed to watch like the rest of the task force because I was a minor. The day Light was supposed to die was quintessentially the same day as my birthday,January, 28th, which was today.
I sat outside the execution room. I wasn't allowed to see anything but I could be there. I stared at the clock watching to see when Light would be dead. He was scheduled to be injected at 1:00 pm and would probably be dead by 1:02 pm. Light will be dead in 5,4,3,2,1.
"Goodbye Light," I whispered.
"Grace he's dead," I heard a voice say. It was L.
"I know," I said, "So it's all over?"
"Yes we can go back to our old lives now."
I frowned, I didn't want to go back. I didn't realize how much I hated my life before something came and made it exciting. 'At least life will be exciting when I turn 18.'
"I better get back to the orphanage, it's my birthday and Mrs. Hudson probably wants to celebrate me turning 15.~"
"Alright I'll give you a ride."
~~~
"Oh happy birthday deary!!" Mrs. Hudson cheered running up and hugging me.
"Thank you Mrs. Hudson," I smiled slightly, hugging back.
"How was she?" The old woman asked L.
"She was great she was a huge help to the case, I'm glad she worked with us."
"Wonderful I'm glad she could help!" Mrs. Hudson smiled, "I'll let you two say your goodbyes." With that she walked off.
"You did a great job helping us Grace I hope to see you grow to an excellent detective," The pale man said.
"You know where to find me if you need help, I'm always willing have some excitement in my life, orphan life is boring," I smiled.
"Good luck Grace happy birthday," L smiled and turned to walk away, but as he did I ran up and hugged him. Tight.
"Thanks for being the closest thing to a loving family I've ever had, that's all I've ever wanted, I won't forget it," I said before letting him go.
"Bye!" I waved and watched him walk out.
Once he was gone I went up to my room and unpacked my things before going to the room with the piano in it to play. I decided to play 7 years and demons, for a while. A long while. Like 2 hours. It would've been longer but Mrs. Hudson called me to get office through the speaker.
I walked in and was shocked to see L sitting in one of the office chairs. 'L what are you doing here?'
