What woulda happened if I
Hadn't had breakfast today?
If I had slept instead of
Laundering last Monday?
I would probably have a stack
Of dirty laundry.
But Who Knows?
If I had been a boy and not a girl,
If I had bicycles and not books,
If I had followed my love for literature,
And not Ogbuzuru's advice
"she's a brilliant chap, she'll do
Good in the sciences"
Maybe, I'll be one of the noisy,
Sketchy, artsy students
With my head in the clouds.
Maybe,then, I'll wish I followed his advice.
Or just maybe!
If I took my time
From now
To make my own choices,
I will stand the test of tomorrow;
Weakling or great,
I'll beat my chest
And admit they're my choices.
I won't spare the for
Might Have Beens!
We don't realise it but every little decision we make is essentially a big decision. That colour you wore yesterday, that breakfast you chose, your smile, that promise you made...Was probably somebody's sign, probably clogged an artery, lightened someone's day, gave someone hope.
