I read the comments after chapter 228 on Mangastream and one commenter brought up something that I've actually been thinking for a while. Will Meliodas and Elizabeth become the next Demon King and Supreme Deity? I think this would be a really good ending. Cliche? Yep. But cliches exist for a reason.
Also it has already been stated that Meliodas would have been Demon King. From Dolor, Estarossa, and Rueduciel.

And I assume that Elizabeth was supposed to take over from her mother, just from how the other Goddesses have deferred to her. (Though they (at least Rueduciel and Nerobasta) didn't seem to have much respect for her or her naivety.)
