"You're what?!?" Melanie screams at me.
"Pregnant...." I mumble back in disgust of myself.
"Oh my god. You fucking idiot." She laughed to smooth out the tension as we giggled.
"Who's the baby daddy?" She asked in suspense.
"Jaiden." I whispered.
"Mackelroy?!?!?" She screamed. "His brain is smaller than a pea! He's a celery stick on steroids! He's-"
I stopped her.
"Hey! Cut it with the insults! It wasn't my fault! You were the one that insisted we have alcohol! So technically you partially got me pregnant!" I snickered.
"EW! Disgusting images in my head!" She smirked.
We laughed for a while and then I built up the courage to tell Melanie's parents.
Mostly at this time you would probably build up the courage to tell your own parents. But I couldn't.
My parents died in 9/11 all those years ago.
I was 4 years old when they died.
Both of my parents were only child's and so was I.
So I went to live with my best friend at the time and still best friend, Melanie.
Her parents became my parents.
She became my sister.
"So I guess we should tell Steve and Jackie? She whispered making sure they couldn't hear.
Steve and Jackie are Melanie's parents.
I reluctantly nodded as we went downstairs.
Steve and Jackie were just enjoying their morning coffee together.
"Mom. Dad. We need to talk to you." Melanie announced, sitting down in a chair.
"I'm pregnant." I blurted out.
Their eyes went bloodshot.
Then they lectured us for an hour about how irresponsible that was.
At the end of the day, it was my decision.
I'm keeping my baby.
