It's been three days since the incident.

The girls and I have driven all over Illinois and still haven't found a place to stay or to even go into without someone asking me questions or giving me weird looks.

But I'm just going to have to deal with it.

----------------------------------------------

I unhook the car seats as I walk into a local shopping center to buy some food and formula for the girls.

I put Alyna in the bed of the cart, and hooked Violet's car seat into the baby seat in the front.

I walked down the aisles looking for essential items and occasionally giving Violet and Alyna a strawberry-banana puff from their diaper bag.

As I was walking down the chips aisle, I bumped into someone who I dreaded ever seeing their face again.

My ex boyfriend, Matthew.

"Dylin?" he asked unsure if it was even me.

"Oh, um, hi Matthew." I said as I tried to walk away.

"Long time no see!" he laughed.

"Yeah I guess." I mumbled.

"I see you've had your hands full." He said as he stared at the girls.

Violet started to whimper, so I lifted her up and nestled her in the crick of my arm.

"Pretty much." I laughed, looking down at Violet.

"Who's?" he asked indicating he wanted me to tell them the father.

"Mackelroy." I spat as we rolled our eyes in unison.

"So why are you 2 hours away from home?" he asked.

"I bolted after I caught Jai with Mel." I explained.

"Smart girl." he smirked.

I smiled and shifted Violet until she was up over my shoulder.

"They're beautiful by the way." he started.

"Thank you." I said.

"They look so much like you, beautiful." He explained.

I looked at him and smiled as I pulled a piece of hair behind my ear.

"So, I was wondering if maybe we could go for coffee some time?" I asked.

"Yeah. That sounds nice." I said as I waved goodbye and walked away.
