"Hey sweetie, your daddy is coming home today." You whispered to the small baby wrapped in your arms. You pressed your forehead against hers gently. She had Iain's bright eyes, and soft brown hair. Her nose was like his too. You cuddled her into your chest.
Iain hadn't been able to be there when she was born as he was on tour in Canada. It hurt a lot to not have him there. His mum was there was there, and your own mother. His father and my dad stood outside the hospital room. His mum had stayed with you the past two months after your baby girl been born while Iain finished the tour. She had already left to back home this morning, to let you and Iain be alone with our daughter when he returns.
He called every day to check up on you both. You it made him happy and You knew he felt so guilty that he wasn't here with us.
You quickly got up, when you heard the door open and his bags drop to the floor. You smile widely, crying a little.
He was going to meet his daughter for the first time in the month she had already been alive.
"Hey honey" You said quietly walking into the hall, holding her in my arms.
"Is that her?" Iain asked, his wide eyes fixed on the baby in my arms.
You laughed, "No this baby, who is the spitting image of you, is not our baby" He rolled his eyes and laughed, reaching out his hand to stroke her cheek. She cooed happily reaching for him. You saw his eyes water up."You want to hold her?" You whispered as he knelt down next to you. His hand holding her tiny one as he looks up to you.
"Can I?" He asked sitting on the floor, leaning against the wall. You nodded sitting next to him. You then slowly handed her to him. She looked so small compared to his tall frame and big hands. He looked very happy, tears if joy rolling down his cheeks.
"She has your eyes and nose and hair..." You said softly as he studied her. He smiled widely, his eyes an cheeks flooded with tears.
"My princess..." He whispered to her pressing his lips into her forehead. You felt a simple pang of jealously. That used to be his pet name for me, but she was my princess too. He looks down at her lovingly and speaks to her, "I'm so sorry baby, I couldn't be there. It killed me. Uncle Casey almost saw me crying as I talked to your mommy on the phone..." Iain whispered as she layer happily in his arms. She seemed happier than usual when she was in his arms, making me feel a little sad as thoughts if him being the better parent and her preferring him came into my mind, but you just pushed them away.
"I didn't know you cried..." You whispered wrapping my arms around my legs slowly.
"Of course I cried. Honestly, I should've canceled a couple tour dates. Even if it wasn't for a long period of time, I should have been here. Rena kept telling me to just go home but I was selfish and stayed." Iain said sad and annoyed with himself, cuddling your daughter close.
"I wouldn't have let you cancel tour dates." You said shaking my head and looking down.
"Hmm... I missed you." He said turning to me. He leaned over to me brushing his lips over mine. "But now I'm home." He finished with a smile.
"I love you so much." You sighed spinning my wedding band on my finger. Suddenly, You felt his warm fingers against mine holding them and pulling my hand to his lips as he kissed the ring on my finger.
"I love you more." He said with a warm smile.
Our baby girl gave a loud coo bringing his attention back to her.
"What is it princess?" Iain said leaning toward her. She giggles and grabs his shirt cuddling him.
"Guess she's your princess now..."you whispered a little sadly.
"And you're my queen." He said with a smile.
"Welcome home baby" you smile and kiss him softly. Please comment and vote 💕
