Harry POV:
"Harry, stop sulking and eat." Hermione said as she looked over at me. She was right, I had to eat but I didn't feel up to it.
"Look mate. I know you're all caught up on Malfoy being a prick but like life goes on." Ron said supportively. I wasn't caught up on him, I was just heartbroken. I picked up a piece of toast and nibbled on the edge.
"Tell me something to cheer me up." I mumbled through a small mouthful of toast.
"Potions being cancelled and we're having a lesson by Dumbledore." Hermione said. Ron dropped his spoon, causing the loud clank to echo around the hall.
"I think I'm gonna go pray to those muggle gods you were telling me about." Ron shouted. People from the neighbouring tables stared at Ron, but he didn't dampen his mood. Mine however was dampened instantly. Draco swayed in, looking over everyone in the hall. Behind him walked his minions, scowling at anyone who looked at them for too long. I was transfixed. He sneered at me, but I didn't back down. If he thinks that we can go back to hating each other so quickly than he thought wrong. I was angry at him, but I didn't hate him. Fuck it, I love him.
"I think this milks gone sour." Hermione said as he sniffed the milk.
"It's because it just walked in." I spat. She half smiled at me in sympathy.
"What are you looking at Potter!" Draco spat as he walked past.
"Just at how much you've changed in the past few days." I replied, scowling at him. He walked past the table on purpose. It wasn't even on his route to the Slytherin table!
"Harry." Hermione warned. "Just leave it and lets go. We should probably pick up some spare parchment anyway." Ron agreed and I sighed. I didn't let my eyes leave him as I got up to walk away, making sure he knew exactly how I felt about him. Pure rage.Later, we stood outside the room of requirements, waiting for the rest of the class to join us. "Harry, just a pre warning that Slytherin will be with us in this lesson today." Hermione said. I rolled my eyes. Why is the world against me? It's bad enough having to see him at meal times and living in the same building, but to also have to be in so many lessons together, wasn't improving my mood at all. Draco and the rest of the Slytherin scum sauntered down the hallway and stopped across from Harry. (A/n: I don't hate Slytherins, I am one myself, sorry!!!) This had to be Draco doing this on purpose. Luckily before I got the guts to say anything, Dumbledore appeared.
"What you are going to see today, is completely secretive. It has been known to drive people mad at the sight! But I have placed my trust in you to act accordingly around it and to not go adventuring for it after this. Please follow me." The wise man said as he opened the doors. Hermione, Ron and I glanced at each other in fear and excitement. The class filed into the smallish room, that seemed to expand as more people entered.
"It's a bit dark in here, I wish there was more light!" Seamus complained loudly. The room suddenly became brighter, leaving the students in awe.
"Ah Mr finnigan, I see you have figured out the wanders of the room of requirements, but that is for another lesson. Now please hush and gather round." Dumbledore said with a hint of excitement in his voice. Whatever he was so excited about, was defiantly lifting my mood. "Underneath this sheet here lies something so mysterious and bewildering that you may become transfixed. Dear children, may I present to you... the mirror of erised!" A combination of oohs and ah's circulated the room as he pulled down the dusty sheet. Ron and I gave each other a knowing look. Year one was a crazy time.
"What does it do?" Many voices asked.
"Great, he's taken us here to see a mirror. Whoopee-do! The old bats gone mad! I could've gone into any bathroom to see this." Draco complained. I shot him a dirty look. How dare he just slag off Dumbledore and his lesson! Stupid prick.
"The mirror shows the most desperate desire of a person's heart, a vision that has been known to drive men mad. The inscription at the top says I show not your face but your heart's desire backwards, with the spaces rearranged." Dumbledore taught. Everyone was amazed, except Ron and I. Even Draco had stopped complaining for a moment to take a closer look. Hermione next to me, was scribbling down notes underneath a labelled diagram of the mirror.
"Uh 'mione, is that really necessary?" I asked. She stared at me like I was mad.
"Harry, exams aren't that far away and this is probably a surprise question." She replied while scribbling away.A line was formed to view the mirror.
"One by one, you will see your desire. Please share if you want." Dumbledore said. Hermione dashed in front and Ron and I joined the back, not caring too much about looking. However, I was interested in seeing what Draco will do when he sees his. What would it be? Probably something dark and horrible. Probably killing me. Hermione went up and faced the looming mirror. Suddenly her face lit up and she dropped her parchment and quill.
"I'm head girl, I've passed all of my exams and I've got a job in the ministry. I look pretty proud of myself so I guess it's a good position!" She squealed with delight.
"Of course that's her desire. I'm not even in it." Ron whispered, causing me to laugh. Other peoples were similar. Getting good grades, getting a job and many other boring things. But then there was Draco. He walked up the mirror confidently and stood there for a while. Then his face dropped.
"Draco, is everything alright? What do you see?" Dumbledore asked cautiously. Draco shook his head and ran out the room. It took all my strength not to go after him.Ron's was the same as last time, except this time he had Hermione on his arm. I pretended that I found it cute and normally I would, but I was so distracted by Draco and the thoughts of what he could've seen, that it was uninteresting to me.
"Right Harry, you're last." Dumbledore said as he beckoned me up to the mirror. I didn't care, id probably see the same thing as last time.
"Oh my look at the time! Harry, look in the mirror and the rest of the class is dismissed." Dumbledore suddenly said, distracting me from looking.
"So Harry, what do you see?" Hermione asked as she ignored Dumbledore flailing about.
"I see me all grown up. But he's there, oh god why is he there? There's children and we live in this beautiful mansion, surrounded by Forrest and gardens. But wait, it's changing. There's a warm fireplace and wine. Just me and him." I rambled. Dumbledore walked back over.
"Love. A desire so deep in the heart." He said. Then suddenly the scenery went black.
"WAIT ITS GONE! ITS GONE BLACK." I shouted, in full panic. All I heard was dracos voice shouting my name, screaming it as if he was being hurt or attacked. Then it shattered. Shards of glass fell onto the floor.
"Oh my. I've never seen that happened before." Dumbledore said calmly.
"WHY DID THAT HAPPEN!" I screamed. "HE NEEDED ME! HE WAS IN DANGER!"
"No one will ever understand the mirror and it's ways Harry. You of all should understand the risks." He said as I fled the room and the ever playing nightmare that echoed in my head.A/n: this was bad I know.
