Chapter 5- The doctor

TRIS POV:

I try not to think. I just keep running. My legs burn and I can't breathe but I ignore it. I have to keep going. I need to keep going.

I trip over a risen tree root. I take most of the impact on my forearms. I feel my arms sleep on the mud as I try to stand back up. But it's to much I can't get back up I just slip back onto the floor.

I look behind me and I can't see anything but I feel the ground rumble underneath me. I look at my clothes and I'm back in my abnegation clothes. I start panicking and my breathes begin heaving. I close my eyes and I flashback to when I was in Tobias' fear landscape.

I look around me and noticing the sinister looking, bark trees. I breathe in the smell of damp moss. "This isn't real" I whisper. I fall into the puddle that forms next to me.

I bolt up in my bed. My cannula rips out of my wrist and I feel the blood trickle onto my fingertips. I gulp and look down and I see so much blood. I scream.

It pools on my bed next to my right thigh. I feel like vomiting and I do. Right on the doctor who I alerted by screaming. The bile hits his scuffed, black, work shoes. Then I realise I haven't eaten in days and my stomach grumbles at the thought.

"I am so sorry" I say.

I look up at the doctor. Scared of what his reaction might be but he just stands there in shock. He lifts his arm up to scratch his head and I flinch thinking he was going to hit me.

"That's alright. What happened? Why were you screaming?" He asks.

I look at him like seriously, did you just say that. I'm so shocked by his question I just point at my now blood-deprived wrist and he gags. I laugh a little aren't doctors supposed to be tough. After an awkward pause he manages to squeak out

"Please follow me"

"Just like this?" I ask. I'm hesitant to get out of the warm bed as the air conditioning looked especially ferocious today.

"Yes please" he says. No he's the one looking at me like did I seriously just ask that.

I pull the right corner of my sheet over to the rail on the left of my bed and I slide my legs out from under the bed and down onto into my slippers on the floor. I get goosebumps instantly. I follow the doctor out of the theatre, staring at my feet.

We enter a narrow hallway with blue tiles.

"Quickly" the doctor urges.

I walk into a room, not paying attention to the room at all. The door clicked behind me and I realise I'm in a store room. I panic.

"What's going on" I say with shaky breathes.

The doctor pulls of a wig and takes out two contacts. I gasp...
