'You know he does have the whole evil lair thing covered.' I noticed as Liam and I entered the operating theatre. 'Yeah which only emphasis how incredibly evil he is.' Liam sighed. 'You're starting to sound like Stiles sweety, and trust me that's not a good thing.' I patted his shoulder and he rolled his eyes at me in response.
We found Theo in a room looking at an empty container, tube thing. I'm not sure what it contained but I'm guessing it wasn't good. 'They called him Der Soldat, which is German for...'
'The soldier. I'm short, not stupid. Get on with it.' I sighed. Okay, so it contained a person. That's not something to worry about at all. 'I'm pretty sure he fought in World War II.' Theo continued. 'So he's a Nazi?' Scott asked. 'And an alpha werewolf.' Theo replied. 'The dread doctors were using him to prolong their lives, they've been doing it for decades. Actually, probably longer.'
'How old are these dudes?' I questioned. 'Who knows. But wherever they go, he goes too.' Theo said. 'So how do we find him?' Liam asked. 'Keeping him alive requires a pretty unique set of conditions. There has to be a powersource, and it has to underground and on a tellurent current.' Scott got out the map and handed it to Theo. 'Looks like we're going on a hike.'
**_**
'I cannot believe I am once again out in the woods.' I sighed. 'It's all we ever do! If I don't end up getting killed in the woods I'm gonna be damn surprised.' I rambled. 'I'm sure if anything were to attack you, you'd be more then able to handle yourself.' Theo replied without looking up from the map. 'If anyone's going to attack anyone it'll be me clawing your eyes out.' I muttered. 'Feisty.'
'Where is he?' Scott asked. 'How should I know...Isn't that the point of us being out here looking for him?' I retorted. 'Are they becoming one person?' I heard Theo ask Scott causing me to roll my eyes. 'You know who I'm talking about.' Scott said. 'Deucalion?'
'You shouldn't trust him, he bad news.' I said. 'You're the one that let him live.' Theo replied. 'I'm not a murderer.' Scott said. 'But you still think you're gonna get through all of this without killing anyone.'
'I didn't say that.' Scott replied. 'Liam?' I questioned noticing the younger Beta had stopped walking. 'We're close.' He said. 'You get his scent?' Scott asked. Liam nodded in response. 'Which way?' Theo asked. Liam looked towards Scott and I. I could tell he didn't trust Theo. 'You think you're gonna leave me behind?' Theo asked looking from Liam towards Scott and I.
'It is an option.' I shrugged. 'Liam...' Scott said.
'Look, he wants to kill him.' Liam said pointing towards Theo. 'I just want his power. You wanna fight someone who actually wants to kill Mason go fight Parrish.' Theo replied.
'Who'd you see when you put on the mask?' Liam asked. 'I already told you it wasn't Mason!' Theo replied. 'Who was it?'
'I saw a man dying in the snow. He was impaled by a spear.' Theo replied with a sigh. 'It's called a pike, Lydia told us the story.' Scott said. 'Then you all know what it means. Time's running out. Where is he Liam, what direction?' Theo asked once again. Liam let out a sigh before walking ahead of us leading the way. Not much later we found a cabin, it didn't look like it had been used in the last... probably 500 years but I guess that's what makes it the perfect hide out if you're an evil person trying to succeed in your evil plans. Liam was running for the door but Scott stopped him before he could open it. 'Listen.' He said. I also focussed my hearing, a single heart beat was audible from inside. 'It's him.' Liam said, sounding very relieved. Liam went inside and the rest of us followed closely behind. 'Man talk about your evil lair.' I muttered as we made our way down a set of stairs. It was dark, and it smelled like hell on earth. 'Mason!' Liam suddenly exclaimed and he ran towards his best friend. My eyes widened and I gasped at the sight of the young boy. He was clearly in a lot of pain. A tube was attached to back of his neck which was again attached to a contained which this time did contain a person. 'It's connected to him.'
Scott crouched down next to Liam to take a closer look. 'What is this thing?' He muttered. 'I don't know.' Theo replied next to me. 'Liam...I can feel...It's in my skull.' Mason said. 'What are they doing to him?' Liam asked looking over his shoulder at Theo. 'I don't know!'
I sighed and grabbed his arm to get him to look at me. 'That time in the tunnels, you told me you didn't want me putting myself in danger. Okay now I know I may say or do a lot of stupid things but I'm not stupid when it comes to that kind of stuff. I'm a movie buff Theodore I know what you meant by that.'
I noticed Scott looking at me confused. He'd never asked me what Theo had told me then. And I had never mentioned it. Theo sighed and crossed his arms over his chest, trying to look bored. 'I know that in your own weird, evil, annoying way you care about me. That's why you helped me when I couldn't transform, that's why you said those things. Now I'm asking you, please, please, if you know anything please tell us!'
'I'm sorry Sammy but I really don't know.'
'Guys, let's focus.' Scott said. 'Hold him still.' He told Liam and he motioned for me to help. I crouched down on Liam's other side and grabbed hold us Mason's arm whilst my brother reached for the tube in his neck. His hand had barely moved and Mason was already screaming in total agony. 'I barely moved it.' Scott said. His eyes suddenly widened and when I followed his gaze I noticed one of the dread doctors standing in the room. 'They wanted us here.' Theo said. My gaze drifted around the room, we were surrounded. 'Liam, try to get that thing out of Mason's neck.' Scott said. 'Sammy you help him.' Theo added and I shot him a glare. He shot me a look. 'You were right about what you said, so please do as I say. Maybe Stiles will show me some gratitude then instead of hatred.'
'I wouldn't count on it.'
'Theo. Theo Raeken.' One of the dread doctors spoke. 'He's coming with us.' Theo said. 'Failure. Theo Raeken.'
'I'm...I'm not a failure.' Theo replied, he sounded confused, hurt. 'Not a complete failure. We learned from you.'
I left Mason's side and joined Theo and my brother. 'Theo, they're trying to get to you. It's what they want.' I said. 'The mark of a true failure, repeating the same mistake again, and again.'
'We're taking Mason.' Theo said. 'Then I'm taking what's mine.'
'You have the entitlement and narcissism typical for your generation. In that you are a profound success.' The dread doctor spoke. Behind us Masons screamed again meaning Liam was still trying to get him out. 'Scott! I can't get it out, I don't know what to do.' He said.
'But your failure taught us one thing,' The dread doctor continued. 'The banality of evil. That you were and would always be an ordinary evil.'
'You think I'm ordinary?'
'We believed that the resurrect the perfect killer we had to start with the perfect evil. From you we learned that true evil only comes from corrupting something truly good.'
'Not something.' I heard my brother say. 'Someone.'
'Get him out!' Theo told me before launching on the dread doctor. I turned around and replaced my brother and Liam by Mason's side as they also went to fight of the dread doctors. 'Okay Mason, this is going to hurt like a bitch, but we have to do this! Together, okay?'
He nodded and we both wrapped our hands around the tube. 'On three! One...two...three!' We both started pulling and Mason's screams were soon filling my ears again. But he didn't stop. He slowly got up to his feet and with one last pull he was out. 'Transformation.' One of the dread doctors said. A frown appeared on my face and someone quickly pulled me away from Mason as smoke was starting to surround him.
'Transformation without frequency.'
'Mason!' Liam called. 'That's not my name.' The smoke had now completely surrounded him and soon it was no longer Mason, but the beast standing in front of us. But what It did next is what surprised me to most. It went after the dread doctors. And killed them.
