CHAPTER 5

1:00 am

It had been two weeks since the accident and Eva was not in good condition. Chris had still not woken up and she was starting to lose hope. In these two weeks she had gone home only to shower. She had stayed in the hospital every night despite William and Noora telling her to go home.

It was the middle of the night and Eva was crying more then she ever had before. "Chris, I know you're probably really sick of hearing me say this, if you can hear me, but I am begging you to wake up. Even if you just move a finger or something. I don't care but I need you back here with me. I have never been so lonely these past two weeks. You're my best friend and I can't live without you. In all honesty I like me better when I'm with you." Eva said sobbing uncontrollably while holding Chris's hand.

She felt a grip on her hand. It must be a dream she though. That was until she heard a voice she'd been waiting to hear.

"I made a promise Mohn." Chris said, a little horse.

"Chris? Oh god I have never been so happy to hear your voice." Eva said hugging him. He hugged her back lightly. "Told you is never leave." Chris said with a smile.

Eva called a doctor to check on him. After the doctor said he was fine but would need to stay a few days as he was out so long, she called noora and William. They came in and the group stayed talking until around 6 am when noora and William went home. Eva stayed for a bit.

"You know you can go home if you want Mohn. William told me you hardly left this place" Chris said sleepily as Eva lied in next to him.

"Nah I'm good. I wanna stay here for a bit." Eva said, happy to have her best friend back.

"I'm really sorry Eva." Chris said running his had soothingly through Eva's hair.

"Why are you sorry? It was my crazy mom who pushed you." Eva said looking up at him.

"You know how they say people unconscious can hear what's going on. Ya well that's true. And I heard you sitting beside my bed crying every night and my heart broke a lil bit. I also heard you remembering that time when we were ten and I promised to never leave you. You should have known I always keep my promises." Chris said as he saw Eva getting more sleepy.

"I'm very glad you kept that promise. If you died I would have killed you." Eva said causing Chris to laugh. Eva let out a big yawn.

"Go to sleep. I'll still be here when you wake up. Promise I'm not going anywhere." Chris said stoking her hair.

"Ok but only for a little bit." Eva said laughing.

10:00 am

William and Noora walked into the hospital room hand in hand to see Chris. They opened the door and greeted him.

"How's my big brother today" Noora asked loudly.

Chris put a finger to his lip and said shush pointing at a sleeping Eva beside him. "Sorry. Has she been out long?" Noora asked and sat in a chair beside his bed.

"Just after you left I guess. Has she slept at all these past two two weeks?"Chris said concerned.

"Not a wink. I'm pretty sure she can only sleep well if she's with you. In our house I usually have to calm her down from nightmares." William said looking at his sister fast asleep.

"Oh no she's had nightmares when she's slept at mine too. She literally wakes up in the middle of the night screaming. I doubt sleep deprivation will do that any good" Chris said moving a strand out of her face.

"Let's hope she gets a couple more hours to try and recover a lil bit. Shouldn't you be resting too?" Noora said concerned.

" I literally had a two week nap. I think I'm good." Chris said quietly with a laugh.
