Unexpected Fate

Chapter 41-Evil Incarnate

Vegeta was growing ever impatient since the disappearance of Bardock and Goku. He had ordered what guards he could to go out and scout the nearby slums and forests for their whereabouts, but neither father nor son could be found. He felt the dark energy from the damaged balcony he stood upon growing ever closer. While he could easily fire a powerful blast to destroy the spaceship, he longed to challenge this universe's version of Kakarrot ever since he learned of his approach to Vegeta-sei.

"My lord, the king requests your presence," a guard called from the entryway. Vegeta tore his gaze from the sky and followed the guard to the counsel room. Within the dark and dreary counsel room, the prince saw his father, Tarble and a few members surrounding a large table. Every single one had a haunted look in their eyes. It was due to the fact that the one who caused their problems was returning to their world.

"We need to discuss a plan in order to subdue Kakarrot," Tarble slammed his fist on the table angrily. For the first time since Vegeta's arrival on the planet, he saw a cowardly look on his younger brother's face which displeased the elder prince.

"The plan's simple: when the seer and clown return, we plan to go Super Saiya-jin on his ass and literally bring him to his knees before I execute him," Vegeta summarized.

"That won't work," King Vegeta spoke up. "We had sent many of our elite warriors who could rival one Super Saiya-jin's power at him and he easily destroyed them all."

"That's because they were all weak," Vegeta bit back. The looks on their faces made the bold prince detest their presence. None of them had any hope of defeating the evil Saiya-jin that defected and was slaughtering their people like it was some sick sports game only he enjoyed. "I feel that overpowering him would force him to lose face and surrender."

"He won't surrender," Tarble explained. "From the stories I heard, he fought like a wild dog even when he was wounded and outnumbered. He..." the prince stammered with his face twitching in grimace of the pained memory dug up from what he had heard from the survivors of that cataclysm. While he was not on the world when it happened, he knew seeing it would have probably been hundreds of times worse. "He even killed you and your two guardsmen without much effort..."

"Well I'm not like your older brother from this timeline," Vegeta cockily answered. "Not to mention I am a Super Saiya-jin."

"Your idea's suicidal! More people are going to die!" Tarble yelled at his brother.

"If anyone dies, then they are all weak!" Vegeta countered.

"You have no idea what power he possesses!"

"I doubt he'll be much of a challenge. I'm going to go change into my battle armor. Anyone who wants to witness Kakarrot's demise is welcome to watch." With that, Vegeta left the counsel room—his reddish cape swiping the air as he turned and walked out the barely standing double doors. He held an air of confidence that seemed to defy their words of warning.

"He has no idea what he's saying..." Tarble shook with repressed anger. He felt frustrated and was afraid that he would lose his brother again and this time, he would have no choice but to watch it all play out while he stood on the sidelines. Unlike Vegeta, Tarble was not a Super Saiya-jin and knew that he would never amount to what the first born could do.

"He will know soon enough my son," King Vegeta grimaced. "This battle might be one that not even they can hope to rid us of the plague that's lingered in the air for so long..."

Elsewhere in the tribal village far beyond the borders of Catsar, Bardock was waiting for Wingdof to return with his son. He was growing more and more impatient by the minute and started eating in order to keep himself from tracking them down himself.
