Unexpected Fate

Chapter 42-Forbidden Power

The villagers removed Wingdof's body from the hut on a stretcher. They avoided Goku, who was lying there unconscious, and were muttering prayers in hopes that the shaman's soul would reach Infr for final judgment peacefully. After everything that transpired in his life, it seemed the shaman deserved that much. The minute the woven doors closed, only two Saiya-jins remained within the deceased shaman's hut—the cursed warrior and his youngest son.

Bardock stood there, his eyes transfixed at the door where he had seen Wingdof's body carried off before tearing his gaze away from the exit. Somehow, it seemed that the very universe finally threw an unavoidable curve ball into the equation and somehow, it had involved Bardock's counterpart to die suddenly. Not even the cursed warrior was aware that this was going to happen and now, it seemed as though there was yet another trial that he would need to overcome. The question now was how will he save his son without his counterpart's guidance?

"Damn it... Well, I just up and died in this fucking universe," Bardock mused angrily out loud in Saiya-go to himself while attempting to figure out what the shaman's final words to him meant. The last parts of the conversation he had with his alternate self were a riddle that plagued the warrior. He mused the words over and over again through his head in an effort to figure out its meaning in futile.

"Do we even have a guardian on this planet? If so, where in the hell would he be hiding if he did exist? Why the fuck do I need to find him anyway? And what did Wingdof mean when he said that 'it would happen to me as well?' What is going to happen to me that I am not aware of?"

The cursed warrior was frustrated and he knew that they were screwed at this point. Without Wingdof, Bardock had did not know where he was going to look in order to find this 'guardian' that they were searching for. He doubted that the gods would even try to provide any assistance at this point. There were only two exceptions that they did something during all of this chaos.

The first time was when his son was temporarily possessed by Infr—which still baffled the elder warrior due to the younger Saiya-jin's doubts during all of this. Goku was the least likely candidate to be possessed by the Lord of Gods, yet, it happened for some odd reason.

The second time was when Scrix had come to him in that dream he had. It seemed almost though Bardock had his own doubts running through his mind that he would be unable to do anything to save his son—it would be too easy for Goku to succumb to his counterpart's evil ambitions. Not only that, but if the gods did in fact come to aid them during this point of the trials, it would have seemed too freaking convenient. Instead of holding out any thoughts of this happening, Bardock knew that he had no choice but to suck it up and deal with the repercussions that would come as they may.

"I have no idea what I'm going to do at this point," Bardock walked over and slammed his fist into one of the rocky chimney that helped supported the structure. He knew destroying his alternate self's hut was not going to solve matters in the slightest, but at least the punch made him feel somewhat better. Dust rained down slightly and he snorted as a few small pieces of the roof clattered to the floor.

"He gave me one fucking clue, but I don't know how to figure this shit out! I'm not like him at all! I have to 'seek the guardian' of this motherfucking planet in order to stop this shit from getting worse. If I knew where the hell he was, I..."

"About time I found you!" Vegeta's voice growled from the doorway. He entered the hut with Tarble following close behind.

"Where is Wingdof?" Tarble questioned timidly, knowing he was more than likely about to see a fight break out, but still had the right to know of the man's whereabouts.
