Chapter 6: Not That Kind of Guy

"It all started in eight grade, I had a good friend called Mathew. We were dating and he was nice sweet and very gentle. We made a promise saying that we'd never leave each other see, and he kept it for a while. Then my mom left us and my dad, he promised to all away be with me and to never leave me alone.

The year we were put in the foster care system he committed suicide. He wrote a note saying that he couldn't stay with me forever and that he's sorry for breaking our promise."

Luke put his arm over my shoulder and kissed my forehead.

"I'm sorry Mia really. But I'm not that guy ok! I won't leave you and I promise..."

Once he said that I got up and ran. I don't know were but the only thing I knew was that I never wanted to listen to those words I promise.

"Mia please stop!!!"

I looked back and saw him. I ran and tripped over some steps and tried getting up when he held me waist. I was crying and screaming,

"No! let go!"

"Mia it's ok it's me your ok!"

At first I was fighting him, then I held him close to me.

"Please don't ever do that! please!"

"I can't promsie you that. I will promise to try not to say it again." I laughed a little.

"But see Mia, I'm not a Mathew ok. I won't leave you! and I'm not saying that to make you feel better ok? I mean it"

He pushed me away a bit so he could see my face better.

"now before you run away again can I please say something?"

I knew what he was going to say, he was going to promise to never leave me and then hug me but I couldn't bare to hear those words so I kissed him. I held on to him and made sure he wasn't trying to pull away. He pressed harder and lifted me up a little. I wrapped my arms around his neck, as if I never wanted him to let go.  

After a while,I let go and he just looked at me.

"Ok, I won't say anything. Do you just want to walk?"

I nodded and he held me hand as we walked. We didn't say anything and the whole time we just walked, until we got to the end of the school and decided to walk back.

We went to eat and got a muffin. Not blueberry! The song Dance Forever by Allstar Weekend came on. "Such an ok band." he laughed and said,

"but this song is perfect" We listened to the lyrics for a while...

We'll dance forever and never leave each other

We're crazy enough and now we feel alive and

we'll walk to the beats and you'll say we'll stay together.

He held my hand and he drove me home. We went to his house and laid on the bed. He was looking in his books and pulls out a picture. "here this is you and this is me."

it was a picture of Lilo and stitch, Lilo was under a pillow and stitch was on the pillow drinking from a baby bottle. I laughed "perfect, just one thing" I turned the picture around and I wrote 'muffin and bubba'

"Now it's perfect!"

He kissed my forehead and we laid down and just talked. About everything. And sometimes, nothing. We talked until he walked me home and gave me a kiss goodbye. 

I had a dream about Mathew and about the day he promised that he's never leave me. I woke up screaming "No! No! YOU LIED TO ME!"

Tony had me in his arms and I was pushing away and then realized that I was safe. Safe in the arms of my brother. I held on tight until I fell asleep. Maybe Luke was different, maybe he wasn't a Mathew. On the verge of almost falling asleep, I realized that Luke wasn't Mattew. Luke was just Luke....
