~*Mark's POV*~

What are you up to, John? The boyfriend you love so much is right there!

After John called the confession I put my heart and soul into saying a 'joke', I can't help but feel a burning rage in me.

And now after all that, he's trying to get close to me?

"I'm sorry, Mark."

Huh?

I tried keeping my face composed, as if I didn't hear him.

"I know you can hear me Mark. I'm right next to you now. I- I'm sorry I was rude to you. I know just how much courage and emotions it needs to confess."

"As if." I scoffed.

"Really, I do! I mean, I was the one that confessed to Harvey." he said bashfully.

Aaand that's another stab to my chest.

"I wasn't sensitive, I should have understood you, and I shouldn't have gotten mad. I'm really sorry."

"..."

"..Mark?"

"..Yeah, it's alright. I'm sorry for being er, abrupt."

"I forgive you. Are we still friends?" he asked with that adorable face.

"Of course."

"Ehe." he smiled. "I'm actually with Harvey right now so.."

"I understand, he's your boyfriend and all blah blah"

"Hey! He's the best boyfriend ever!"

"How will you know if you only had one in your whole life?"

"..W--Well.."

"Hey."

"Hm?"

Harvey was already ordering John's ice cream.

"What's your answer?"

"What do you mean?"

"To my confession of course." I said and leaned in closer to John.

"M-Mark!"

"We may be friends now, but I still love you."

"I-I.. Sorry, Mark, but I don't feel the same way."

"Understood." I pulled back and stood up.

"Where are you going?" John asked worriedly.

"Truth be told, I only came here for the air conditioning. See yeah, John." I waved with a smile.

"Bye,"

...

Exiting the parlor, I sigh to myself.

"I guess it really is a 'No', huh. Well, he is taken."

I stretch my arms.

...

"John D. Agate, I'm still not giving up on you."

I pay the lady at the counter and hold the cone of vanilla soft serve. I then turn and walk over to John.
