Karma continued to tug me through the exploding building, my heart was pounding in my chest and I could feel a slight stinging sensation as my skin blistered from the heat. A crackling noise filled the hallway as the school's speakers were turned on. A high pitch, male laugh was soon broadcasted through out the area. Each bellow seemed like another bout of insanity as his cackling continued. "Two anonymous players...huh? Easy kills." His condescending tone licked at me like the flames I was surrounded in, his harsh words biting and burning me. What was he on about? And then it hit me like a ton of bricks, the letter...the game. It couldn't have been real. Icy cold chills dragged them selves across my nerves almost making me forget about the burning building I was in.
"Rin, I'll make sure you survive this and win the game," He knew, he was apart of this. It seems like everyone was aware of today's events except me. Harsh rays of light were leaking in through a gap in a bent door. coughing and gagging, we both gripped onto it and pulled, hearing a clank before the door busted open. pushing through we landed on the soft grass outside with a thud. The blades of grass below me brought a strange sense of relief as I stared back at the assortment of yellow, orange and red flames that had completely obliterated the building.
THe same crackling sound from before started up again before the male's voice spoke again, "Not dead yet? More fun." Before I even had time to question that, Karma had pulled me to my feet and was hurriedly pulling me towards a shaded path. Before we could reach it however, A girl a little younger than myself began to approach us, an obvious pistol clasped tightly in her palm. She stopped about three metres in front of us before simply smirking.
The girl stood with a hip jutted to one side, her right arm draped across her slender body, clasping the elbow opposite. Her head lolled down to one shoulder casting her bobbed hair onto the faded BLink-182 t-shirt that was two sizes too big. It hung so low that her shorts only just peeked below the dirty hem, frayed denim cut-offs. Something about her was off, perhaps it was the gun or the smirk, or maybe even the way her eyes seemed to watch our every move, they're dull irises staring bleakly into ours. Minutes seemed to pass as she continued to stand there sizing us up. "I am Blink," Karma's hand tightened around mine, "That's your game alias, not your name," The girl rolled her eyes before gesturing the gun around. "It won't matter when you're dead," Unsure of the situation, I let my eyes glance over at Karma to see his eyebrows were raised. "What, you're gonna kill us?" He questioned, the subtle jeer becoming obvious as he mock shot himself with his finger. The girl grits her teeth, clearly not appreaciatng the insult. "Bring it on dead boy,"
