"Rin...you Okay?" Looking up, I was silent. Was I Okay? I feel weird and I'm smiling but I don't really know why I'm smiling. "I...think so," he nods extending his hand to me. Grateful, I take it, hauling myself up careful not to slip in the blood. "You should get home, that stuff gets uncomfortable when it dries, trust me," I gave him a weird look.
"Do you have experience," He gave me a sheepish look before turning around.
"Sort of," What the hell did that mean? Is this a normal occurrence for him? Focussing back on reality, I noticed he was walking away. "Hey...wait up!" I had questions. A lot of questions."I didn't really have the time to say anything back then because you know, we could have died, but what the hell was all that?" Silence.
Who is this boy, first he saves me from an exploding body, then he murder's a girl like it was nothing and then he comes back to certain death to once again save me. "What happened to you, Karma Saden?" This time he turned to look at me, something was swirling in those mossy eyes that made me feel uneasy. "I grew up," he shrugged, picking up his pace.
"Some growing up, so did puberty make you a murderer?" There was a tight grip on my arm this time.
The pressure was harsh but not enough to cause pain, "what?" That hidden glint in his eyes had risen and was now staring me blank in the face. "T-that...that girl,"I almost felt like I was in a daze as I watched that glint calm to something more human-like. "Oh...she was going to kill you, so I stopped her," He was relieved, it seems there was something he wasn't quite ready for me to find out about. "Do you expect me to believe that, she clearly had some sort of military training and you took her down like it was nothing,"
"Practise," He said like that was the end of the conversation.
"What kind of practise-"
"Does it matter?!" Okay now he was annoyed.
"Yes, it bloody matters, you could be dangerous," his jaw tightened, a muscle was clicking and he was running his hand through his thick, black hair. Basically he looked like he was about to explode.
"You didn't seem to mind when I was saving you're fucking life," That shut me up. As much as I liked to think I was the righteous one, he was the one who tried to sacrifice his life for mine."Fine, you've won this time, but this isn't over," he looked back at me, a lopsided smirk plastered on his pale face, I was starting to think he was bipolar. "I look forward to our next chat," he fully smiled this time, still looking at me. My face felt like it was against a fire and I knew there were big red splotches dotting my face. Subtly I pretended to itch my face with my blood covered sleeves, hoping to cover the blush. "Oh you got blood on your face," he said, his eyes widening.
"Huh?" I couldn't get much more out as he soon started wiping at my face with his clean sleeve.
"You're jacket," I stated dumbly.
"I don't care about it," does that mean he cares about me? I was now annoyed that he was removing the blood from my face as he would be able to see my red face. My fears were confirmed when he let out a chuckle, "all better," he smirked, grabbing my hand and walking us towards my home."What are we going to do Karma?" I whispered after a few minutes of walking.
"About what?"
"What just happened, you can't pretend something like that didn't happen,"
"You're right it would be dangerous and irresponsible," he stopped and pulled me closer.
"Are you always going to do what you like with me?" I asked annoyed by all his pulling and grabbing.
"But I like touching you," God damn blushing.
"You can't say shit like that," I mumbled wanting to just be home and alone like normal. He offered up a teasing smile, his hands now gripping my shoulders. We stared at one another before that glint came back.
"Look...Rin, we're not going to be safe, you realise that right? I nodded.
Sighing, he pressed his forehead against mine."I just want to keep you safe,"
"From what. what's after us?" I whispered, eyes closing.
"You got the letter right?" I sighed, I suspected it but I was really hoping it wasn't the cause of this.
"Yeah,"
"Then you know exactly what this is about,"
"Can't we just say we don't want to compete?"
"Do you really think they'd give us a choice after all of this?"
"Guess not," My breath got caught in my throat and it was really hard to not break down into tears.
"Don't worry Rin, I will always protect you," he mumbled against my skin.
"Why?" I felt him smile and he was quiet for a bit.
