Screaming, I threw my legs out, swinging them back and forth to escape my captor. "Let go! Help!" My throat was already raw from the vomiting but now it felt like someone was dragging razors up and down its expanse. "Rin...Rin it's me!" No, it can't be, he left me. I must be delirious in my desperation to be saved. "Rin you need to calm down," There it is again, that voice that calms my irrational brain, "karma?" Something soft tickles my neck and I manage to catch a glimpse of raven hair in my peripheral vision. I didn't think. Immediately I turned around and clutched onto him, breaking down into hysterics. "You came back!"
The fact that he was here in front of me, sent my heart into over drive, was he really willing to die if it meant coming back for me? As if reading my thoughts he gently pressed his palm to my head, looking up at him through tears blood shot eyes I noticed a thin trail of blood trickling down his lip. "We're not going to die Rin," A sudden pain in my abdomen brought me back to our situation. I hissed through my teeth as I finally noticed the crimson blotch marring my shirt, peeling back the fabric I tried not to gasp at the deep wound. "I'm sorry, I didn't arrive in time," I was about to question him when a familiar shriek filled the air, my blood ran cold for the hundredth time that day and I found myself being dragged by karma to some unknown place.
"Where are we going?" As usual he remained silent, however he did offer a slight squeeze of my hand which I could only assume was his way of saying 'trust me.' I squeezed back, speeding up so I was now running beside him. "It's blind," surprised, my footing faltered but I soon righted it. "Huh?"
"The machine, it's blind," he glanced behind us before pushing me towards a chain link fence. "I've been watching it for a while now, throwing knives at it when it was distracted," My eyes widened, he hadn't left?
"It would spasm in the direction it was hurt before pausing to listen, I'm assuming it was trying to pinpoint my location,"
"Wait, is that my it kept stopping?" he nodded, running a hand through his hair that was now sticking up in random directions. "I was trying to distract it while also searching for a weak point," he paused, looking behind me.
"It'll be here soon, take this and try to get as far away as possible," Confused, I looked down at his hand to see a butcher's knife, the handle old and cracked but the blade was in prestige condition."What are you going to do?" I gulped, hoping his answer wouldn't be stupid and dangerous.
"I'm going to kill it," Well it was certainly stupid and extremely dangerous.
"Are you an idiot?!" His hand was over my mouth as a particularly loud screech erupted from the machine.
"Don't worry about me, just try and make it home," before I could complain he was sprinting of in the direction of my mother's doctor's creation. As much as I wanted to jump the fence and run I couldn't help but remember the fact that he had never left me and was now trying to save me. "Looks like I'm going to have to return the favour."
Taking in a deep breath, I gripped the knife in my shaking hand picturing what would happen if I failed in my mission to protect karma. My heartbeat was still erratic and it was extremely difficult to walk on my wobbly legs, the more rational part of my brain was screaming at me to turn around but at this point I was too scared to follow any sort of rational thought. The monster loomed ahead of me, it's broken and twisted limbs hanging limp by its sides as it stood there unmoving. 'It's listening', I thought praying to the universe that I would remain undetected. A dark silhouette caught my attention as I turned my head to see karma jumping from roof to roof something silver in his mouth and hands.
How did he become that agile? Gymnastics? Sport? Parkour?
Whatever it was, at this moment in time I wish I had done it. I had to keep my eyes glued to the concrete to make sure my feet didn't hit any stones or obstacles. Every now and again I would stop to glance up at the monster to make sure it hadn't moved and relief would wash over me every time I confirmed it hadn't.I'm not going to lie, I didn't have a plan and I most certainly didn't know what I was going to do with my jelly limbs and an old butchers knife, shank it maybe? I can't imagine it having much affect, most of them were pretty much corpses so if they hadn't died already I'm not sure what exactly would kill them. What if the mechanical aspect of them was keeping them alive? Corpses don't bleed, however, the ones on that machine had. They were limp and lifeless but there was blood crawling along their stitches and cuts. That would have to mean they had some sort of circulation though, which would suggest the machine was pumping blood around their bodies...like one giant heart.
I would just have to find the capsule containing the blood and break it, circulation stops and so do they. Sounds simple in my head but I don't know where the capsule is or how to get to it. Karma once again flashed across a building and my plan became complete. From his vantage point he would be able to see it allowing me to find a way to it. One problem still stood in my way, how to tell him. Being this close to the monster it would surely hear any noise I made making it hard to get his attention.
Sighing, I picked up a rock and hoped what video games taught me actually worked.

Cold Blood
Horror"Was that supposed to hurt?" My eyes left the wound as I pulled the knife from my gut, blood spraying from the wound and coating her face. "I-I don't understand," She mumbled, completely still, just staring at the spot the knife had one been plunged...
