I yawned and blinked open my eyes. Sonya was in front of me making breakfast. I really don't understand how she did it. We were seriously in the middle of nowhere.
As I ate, we talked about what to expect. "Where will I go to keep up my schooling?"
"Oh, yes. You will be going to the city's main high school. You realize that you will be a sophomore."
"Yeah," I said nodding my head. "I have just a random question for you. Where is your cellphone?"
"Your dad said that neither of us were allowed to bring our cellphones. There are tracking things on them," she explained picking up our mess of a campground.
She kept talking with me as we walked through the meadow-like area. "Look at all the flowers," she smiled. "Aren't they beautiful!"
I nodded. She was right. The flowers and the summer colors were so fascinating. Sun shown through the green leaves and birds were chirping up a wonderful melody. I had never felt so torn between two emotions.
On one account, I was happy. Nature had never been more splendid. On the other hand, I was worried about my kingdom. It was being taken over and I was forty miles away from home. I didn't know how to feel.
"Sonya?"
"Yeah, Nia? What's up?" She was always so open. It was how I hoped my mother was.
"I'm split in half right now," I confessed.
Sonya gave me a confused look. "What do you mean?"
"Well, I want to feel happy. Everything is amazing. But then there is a gut feeling that my kingdom is being taken over. My substitute is probably dead and the entire kingdom thinks it is actually me." I gave her a worried look, then put my head back down to the ground.
"Nia." She stopped and turned to me. "Nia, you need to enjoy your life right now. For once in your life you are free from worry about being queen. I can see why you are worried, but your dad has got this. You know how much he is capable of and how he wants you safe. You are the heir to the throne. He wants you to live your life before the duty of being queen and getting married comes into effect. Do you see what I mean?"
"Yes. Enjoy life while you have one," I repeated.
"Exactly. Now, we are only twenty miles away so let's see if we can get there tomorrow."
I smiled. Sonya truly knew how to lighten the mood.<<<<<
The sunset in the distance was the most stunning ever. The colors blended together in a delicate way and made me sit in awe as Sonya wished me good night.
I went to sleep listening to "Despacito".
