~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~The overcast sky were stormy and dark. This made the forest floor look as though it might be midnight instead of midday. Between the tall long needle pines and live oaks it was hard on a good day for the sun to reach the forest floor. At the moment the forest had a glumly dark green tint.
A large black wolf carefully picks it's way through the deep thick underbrush of the forest. His entire being is focused on the stag. The large buck looked to top out about 190 pounds. The wolf knew he had to pay close attention to the buck's movements. The meat the deer would provide would keep the many young pups in his pack well fed. He could afford to lose it among the thick trees.
The deer could feel the threat from the wolf. Even though it did not know where it's feelings of unease came from. It's head was on a constant swivel looking for danger. The wolf made sure to stay down wind while tracking it's pray.
The wolf's plan was to heard the dear near the stream. He know if he could keep the deer close to the stream he might be able to use it to aid him with its the take down.
So far the wolf's plan was working. The large buck was corporateing. It wanders along the banks of the small stream. It stop only a few times to feed on the early spring grass. The wolf began to turn the deer to the more rocky path. This would send the deer to a cliff where it would have no other choice but to turn back into the wolf's trap.
Soon the deer found itself blocked off by the cliff. With no other chose it had to turned back to where the wolf lay in wait. Suddenly the silencend of the hunt was broken. As heart breaking cry echoed in the forest. The stag raised it head, and with a big huff it bolted into the near by trees. The wolf could only watch as the food for his family vanished past the emerald green pines.
The wolf release a low angered growl. He knew that he would have to start the hunt over again. What could have made that sound? The cry sounded like a small child, or a wounded animal.
The cry echoed through the trees, this time it was weaker than before. This had the wolf stopping in his tracks. The sound was so sorrowful and lonely. The wolf began to look for the maker of that sound. He was still not sure that it was human or not. If it was a wounded animal he might be able to salvage the hunt, and get the food his family needed.
He stopped to listen for the cry again. The wolf was rewarded with another weak cry. He lifted his head to catch the sent on the breeze. Blood. The smell of blood was strong, yet strange. The wolf moved closer to a thick brush where the sound came from.
The weak cry came again followed by quite sobbing. Human. The alpha knew that if a human, and was injured on his land he would need to help. He moved back around a larger tree and shifted into his human form. He quickly sliped into the cut off shorts he had tied around his neck.
He made his way back to where the injured person was. Moving slowly so not to spook who ever it was. He carefully removed some branches to get a better look.
"Hello, are you hurt?" He questioned quitely. The human jump at the sound of the alpha's voice. The small being curled more into a ball. "I am not here to hurt you. I just want to help."
The alpha held up his hands to show he no harm. He crawled closer trying to get a better look. "Are you injured?"
The human turned to look at the alpha. He could only stare in awe. The girl if you could call her that, had some of the largest deep blue eyes he had ever seen. Her hair was long sliver blonde and covered her small body.
The girl tried to pull herself back from him more. Only to cry out again in pain. The sound of her cry brought the burn of tears to the alpha's eyes.
He began to look her over to find reason she was crying. She had no visible wounds on her pail arms or neck. Her pretty heart shaped face only had a few small cuts. He keep trying to reassuring her that everything was ok.
He realized that may not be the case when he saw she had long gash on her leg. It was bleeding heavily. He could tell by the depth of the cut that if he did not get her help soon she might not make it.
He didn't stop to look for what had attacked her. He quickly scoop her up, and begins run. She pressed her feverish face against his neck. The alpha did not waste time on what had attacked the girl. How she had received the injury could wait for later.
As he ran he felt his blood start to heat up. His begain to move faster. His instincts became sharper if by some magic. He cleared fallen trees, and dodged branches with ease. It was as if he was watching from outside of him self. The forest became no more than a blur as he moved.
It had taken him more than half the day to get to the stream. He found himself on the path that lead back to the pack house within minutes. He could only think of getting the girl in his arms the help she needed.
As he broke through the trees, and made his way to the main house. Some of the other pack members saw the girl and their Alpha's distressed look. There were calls for the pack doctor. Others scrambled to see if the alpha was being followed.
The alpha wasted no time in getting into the house. He know the pack would take care of any threat if it had followed him. He called out for his uncle the pack doctor.
He made his way to the to the rooms in the big house that were for the sick and injured. He quickly walked into the examining room. He carefully placed the girl on the bed. He turned to the tall man that bolted into the room.
"Alpha Tuan, what happen?", his uncle was all ready in blue scrubs. He move to the cabinet and pulled out a pair of medical gloves. His uncle was in full doctor mode.
"She has been injured. It's her leg. I am not sure how she was hurt, or by whom. I just know if she did not get help soon she will die." He turned to his uncle.
The doctor made his way to the bed. He stopped short just a foot away from the bed. Tuan watch as the doctor looked as if he hit a wall. He stayed frozen for a moment, then he truns back to Tuan. "I can't". His voice is strand.
"What do you mean you can't. She going to die!" Tuan moved to the girl, she was barely breathing. He placed his hand on her forhead. Her soft skin felt as if it was on fire.
"Alpha, I cant. I can't touch her. I feel cold when I get near her" the doctor explained his hands were shaking.
"What are you talking about." Tuan grabbed a towel form the cabinet, and pressed it to her leg. She wimpered. He held her leg as carefully as he could.
"Son, he can't because he is not pure. If I am right about what she is. He can't help her." Tuan's father walked into the room. His dark green looked at Tuan with worry.
"Tell me what are you talking about. What do you think she is, dad?" Tuan looks back at his father his hands are now covered in the girl's blood.
"I think she is a unicorn." Tuan's father gives him a long look. "You maybe the only one who will be able to help her." Alpha Brent stated.
This is how is see the young girl.
