Our Fated Destiny Ch. 4

Ruby's P.O.V.

I woke up the following day and went through my normal routine. After I had finished combing my hair, I heard a knock on my bedroom door. I went over and opened it to see that my brother Duke was standing there with keys in his hand. 

"Do you need these today?" He asks.

I nod my head and he hands them to me. I turn around then, grab the applications off the dresser and when I looked back at the entrance, Duke was gone. I walked through the hallway, down the stairs and towards the kitchen. I grabbed a pop tart that was sitting on the counter and I ate it while standing. After eating I tossed the wrapper in the trash, brushed the crumbs off my shirt and went to the front door. I opened it and walked out. 

I had taken three of the applications to their stores and then my last stop was the music store. I got to the music store, grabbed the piece of paper and I got out of the truck. I went into the building and I spotted Ryan putting something away. He turned around like he knew I was standing there and then he made his way over to me. 

"Hello again." He says.

I handed him the application and he takes it. He looks down at it and begins reading it. After he finishes looking at it, he looks up.

"Will you join me in the office real quick?" He asks.

He doesn't even give me a chance to respond as he begins to walk away. I wanted to shout out to tell him to stop but I really wanted to work at the music store so I followed him. He got to the office first and held the door open for me. I walked in and he pointed at a set of folding chairs.

"Take a sit." He says.

I went over to one and sat down. I hear the door shut and then Ryan sits down in front of me. He gives the paper a quick glance. 

"Your application seems very promising. I may end up calling you in for an interview." He says. "Unless you have a problem working for another werewolf." 

I shake my head quickly. "I have no problem with it." I say.

"That's great to know. So it says here that you had just turned twenty years old just a week ago." Ryan notes.

I nod my head. "That's right." I reply.

"Well, happy one week ago birthday." He says.

I laugh. "Thank you." I tell him.

We talked for a little longer when my phone's ringtone started.

"I am so sorry! I should've turned the volume off." I say grabbing it out of my pocket.

"It's fine Ruby." He says.

I looked at it and it was a text message from my dad. He wanted to know where I was and why I had left without saying anything. I sent one back letting him know that I was in the middle of delivering applications and that Duke knew I was leaving. I turned the volume off then and put it back in my pocket then I gave Ryan my full attention. 

"I need to get back to stocking the shelves. I will give you a call to schedule an interview with you." He says.

We stand up and leave the office. I make my way towards the exit.

"Ruby." I hear Ryan call out my name. 

I turn around.

"I'll be seeing you later." He says.

I wave bye to him and walk out the door to the truck. I got in, pulled my phone out to check for messages. I had one from my dad who had asked if I could stop by the grocery store to grab a few things.
