Our Fated Destiny Ch. 3

Ruby's P.O.V.

I walked out the music store with the application in hand and I made my way towards Duke's truck. I opened the door, got in and shut the door. I started up the truck and made my way out of the parking lot. 

I went to three more stores and got applications from them too. I was about to go to another store when I heard my phone's ringtone going off. I pulled the truck over to the side of the road and grabbed my phone out of my pocket. 

"Hey Duke." I say answering the phone. 

"If you are done using my truck, I really need it back." He says.

I told him that I'll head back home so I hung up the phone and put it back in my pocket. I got back onto the road and soon I got back home. I grabbed my stuff and got out of the truck. I was about to shut the door when I saw Duke out of the corner of my eye and I nearly jumped a foot in the air when I saw him.

"Holy shit Duke! Don't do that!" I yelled.

He puts his hands up in defense.  "Thought you would've heard me coming." He says.

I handed him the keys and thanked him for letting me use his truck. I walk towards the front door, turn around and I saw that Duke had already left. I opened the door and walked inside. 

"How was the job hunt?" I hear dad ask.

I turned to look for him and I saw that he was in the kitchen unpacking dishes.

"It went well I think. Found four applications." I tell him.

I went up the stairs then to my bedroom. I pulled out a notebook and a pen from the book bag that I had. I began filling out all the applications with the appropriate answers. Apparently I was too focused on completing them, that I was ignoring my growling stomach. 

"Ruby...Ruby...Ruby!" I hear someone call out my name.

I look up to see my twin Hunter standing at the doorway.

"What's up?" I ask.

"Dad got pizza. Come down for dinner." He replies. 

I took the notebook off of my lap, placed it on the bed and stood up. My right hand was sore from writing and my legs felt like spaghetti from sitting for so long. I noticed that Hunter had disappeared so I walked out of my bedroom, through the hall and down the stairs. While I was going down the stairs, I could smell the pizza and it made my stomach growl even more. 

I got to the kitchen and my family was standing at the counter grabbing food. I walked over to them and grabbed a paper plate as well and began putting food on it. After I grabbed enough, I joined my family at the table. I sat down on a chair and began eating. 

After I finished eating, I tossed the plate into the trash and went back upstairs to try and finish up the applications before going to bed. I closed the door and sat down on my bed grabbing the notebook and pen. I soon finished the applications so I stood up and walked towards my dresser. I placed the notebook on top and got dressed for bed. 

I turned off the light and literally prayed that I wouldn't trip or step on anything. I eventually made it to my bed without hurting myself. I peeled back my zebra printed comforter and got in bed. I grabbed the comforter and covered my body with it. I soon fell asleep after tossing and turning a bit.
