Chapter Thirteen

“And, after I rescue her, she’ll have to agree to marry me,” Cedric concluded, talking to his French friend, owner of the Maison de L’aliéné, or House of the Insane. No one knew his real name. Don’t ask why, but everyone called him Monsieur L’aliéné. He said to Cedric, “But what if she still does not agree to be married to you? What if the girl does not accept your proposal?” “She’ll have to, or I’ll wind up in your office with Lionel giving you my next of kin information!!” “What you need, Monsieur Cedric, is a......what do you call it?......backup plan. That way, if she does not accept, she will have something else to face, something awful, if she does not want to marry you,” Monsieur L’aliéné replied, so calmly that it was almost creepy. Then again, he was sitting next to Cedric, who seemed like his head was about to explode. Then, suddenly, a lightbulb appeared to go off in Cedric’s head. The red faded from his face, sweat stopped flowing from his hair, and color returned to his knuckles. His smile almost looked black; it was full of pure evil. “Monsieur L’aliéné, I may have a man to add to your Maison.”
