My name is Raven Malony.
I'm fifteen. I live with a pack of wolves. I'm half wolf because of my spirit animal. You see when people in my world turn ten you become one with your spirit animal. My mother is part deer. My dad is part bear. I had two younger sisters, but I had to leave home because I'm part wolf. A month after I left I meet Luna. She's the mate to the Alpha of our pack. You see they're full wolf, but being part wolf I can change into a wolf.
I saw the figures of the hunting group returning, it was my job to protect the pack from any enemies while the others were out hunting. Luna had convinced the pack to take me in when I was ten. The Alpha of our pack is Sejay. Sejay is a white and brown wolf with emerald green eyes, while Luna is black with brown paws and ears. She was like a mother to me since my mother disowned me when I turned out to be wolf.
"Hi, Raven. Did anyone attacked while we were gone?" Luna asked me with snarls and growls. Luna led the hunts every once in awhile.
"No. No one attacked," I replied. With that we walked into the tunnel that led to our cave. The other hunters were dragging three deer carcasses for the pack. When we entered the cave the others looked up and started wagging their tails when they saw the deer meat.
When everyone got their share of the deer we all laid down to go to sleep. Sejay and Luna curled up next to each other and went to bed while everyone else either laid down next to their parents or mates. I curled up in one of the cave's corners and went to sleep on my own. When I finally got to sleep I had a dream of when I had to leave my family.
I woke up on my tenth birthday and got dressed. When I ran downstairs I was greeted with my mom making breakfast. I sat down at the table and my mom walked over a placed a plate of bacon, eggs, and toast in front of me. My dad walked in with the firewood. He placed the firewood in the fireplace and walked over and kissed my forehead.
"How's my birthday girl?" he asked me.
"I'm great daddy," I replied. I finished up my bacon and eggs and started on my toast.
"You excited to see your spirit animal?" he asked me with a smile on my face. "What do your think it will be? A deer like your mom? A bear like me?"
"I don't really know I haven't thought about it a lot," I replied with an unsure smile on my face. I was afraid that my parents wouldn't like my spirit animal. I didn't know what it was yet, but I didn't want to disappoint them. I heard my younger sisters come down the stairs. Victoria was eight years old. She had long wavy dark brown hair with gold eyes. Samantha was six years old with bleach blond curly hair and silver eyes. I on the other hand had black wavy hair with sapphire blue eyes. None of us looked like our parents.
"Lets go get you dressed," my mother said,
"But I already am dressed," I replied.
"I have a special cloths that are tradition for everyone to wear for the ceremony," she told me.
"What ceremony?" I asked.
My dad answered me this time. "There is a special ceremony that will bring out your spirit animal and make you one with it."
"Lets go get you dressed then," and with that I followed my mom to her and my dad's bedroom. She walked over to the closet and pulled out an old box covered in dust. "This is was what I wore for my ceremony."
She sat the box on the bed and removed the top. Inside was a dark blue robe, some black foot wraps, and dark purple under garments. "These undergarments go underneath the robe and these foot wraps are kind of like shoes." She left the room and closed the door for me to get dressed. I pulled my yellow and blue dress off and pulled the dark purple undergarments on. They fit perfectly so my mother obviously went through and fitted them to my size. Next I pulled on the robe and buttoned the two buttons at the top and pulled the hood over my head. I grabbed the foot wraps and ran down the stairs to my mom who was washing the breakfast dishes.
"Can you help me with the foot wraps?"
"Sure honey," she told me while she sat the plate she was washing. I sat down on one of the chairs as she kneeled down and started wrapping my feet up. "You'll have to preform the ceremony on your own so I'll explain what you have to do."
For the next hour we went over what I was supposed to do for the ceremony. Soon enough it was time for lunch. I ran off to read one of my favorite books The History of the Spirits while my mom started making lunch. I had already read hundreds of times, but I never got tired of it.
After lunch my mom toke me to the entrance of a tunnel. The tunnel would lead me to the ancient ruins where I would perform the ceremony.
I headed into the tunnel. The air was damp, the ground was cold, moist dirt, and it smelled as if it just rained. I kept on walking till I saw the setting sun at the end of the tunnel. Once I got to the end if the tunnel I couldn't believe how beautiful it was. There was soft, green grass, with cherry trees, willow trees, and an old stone pathway. I followed the path into a forest. The sun had gone done and the moon and stars where shining in the sky. I finally made it to a stone alter in the woods. There were five tall stones in a circle surrounding the alter. A dagger, a bundle of dried sweet grass, some lavender, and a small stone bowl.
Before I had left the house my mother tied a small bag with two flint stones around my waist. I untied the bag from its spot on my hip. I took the two flint stones out of the bag and set them on the alter. I picked up the sweet grass and started to braid it just like my mother taught me when I was younger. I placed the now braided sweet grass in the stone bowl and picked up the lavender. I held the lavender over the bowl and started crush it into smaller pieces. I then lit the lavender and braided sweet grass on fire. Once it was burning I toke the dagger and cut the palm of my hand. The blood slowly dropped from my hand and into the stone bowl. The burning lavender, sweet grass, and blood started to give off a sapphire blue glow just like the color of my eyes. Then the five stones also started to give off a faint sapphire blue glow. The stones and the mixture in the bowl's glow got brighter and brighter. The glow from the stones came off them and float over to the bowl. The sapphire blue glow had a little black in it as it started to form into an animal. It started to become more and more black as it formed.
After a while there was a transparent pure black wolf with sapphire eyes standing in front of me. The wolf walked towards me with such grace and beauty all I could do was look at it. It then walked right through me and disappeared. I felt a sudden pain ripple through out my body and fell to my knees clutching my sides screaming out in pain. Soon the pain was too much and I collapsed.
I woke up from my flash back hearing multiple howls of pain and danger.
I hope you like it. This while probably be part of a series, but I'm not sure yet. We'll just have to wait and see.
