Chase's POV
- Ding!

We arrived to the top of the elevator. "Ready for action, Ryder sir!" I say, planting my right paw on the ground firmly.

Ryder started explaining the mission. I was a bit distraught by Skye. I could just sit here, looking at the way-

"Skye!" interrupted Ryder. "I need you and your helicopter for this mission!"

Skye yipped. "Let's take to the sky!" Ah, she's so beautiful.

"Alright, PAW Patrol is on a roll!" said Ryder, pumping his fist in the air. He slid down his pole as the rest of us cheered and howled.

"Hey, who wants to play pup pup boogie?" asked Zuma to lighten the mood.

I didn't answer. I was thinking about something else. Someone else.

"Ooh, I do!" says Marshall, wagging his tiny tail.

"Well then, get rweady to get beaten by the best!" smirked Zuma.

Marshall turned on the console. Zuma dragged the two boogie boards into place with his mouth, and connected them to the TV. They selected multiplayer mode and played a couple rounds Zuma won every time by a landslide.

"It's not fair! You always win!" whimpered Marshall.

Zuma smiled. He was the king of pup pup boogie. Nobody could ever beat him. Except Skye.

Skye. I flashback to the first time I met her. We were both small pups back then. I was out for a stroll, then-

"Chase! Come in Chase!" It was Ryder. "Chase! We need you and your net at the mountains! Skye's in danger!"

Skye? In danger? I need to go. Now!

I slid down the slide hastily and hop into my car. I hit the gas pedal and blare out my sirens, driving as fast as I could.

Skye is in danger. Skye is danger. I was worried out of my mind. I couldn't focus on anything else. I zoom past Main Street in a jiffy and reach the mountains.

"Chase! Help!" Skye was barely hanging onto the edge of a cliff. Her wings were jammed into a crevis in the mountainside.

Her grip was slipping. I started panicking. "Arf! Net!"

I send the net as precisely and carefully as I could on the ground. Skye slips off, plummeting down the chasm. I feel my heart beating out of my chest. If I miss, she dies because of me.

Skye falls down and reaches the net, bouncing back up a few times before coming to a full stop. I nearly fainted.

We both head down the mountain to check on her. "Skye, are you alright?"

She smiles brightly. "You saved me, Chase." she licks my cheek. I blush, and she giggles.

I wish that was what happened.

My net completely lost altitude while falling, and it got twisted and flimsy. Skye fell to the ground, and landed with a thud that made the ground tremble. I could feel the vibrations shatter my heart from up here.

Ryder immediately dialed 9-1-1. His hand was shaking and his voice was quivering. "Hello? We have an emergency! There's a seriously injured pup, no there's no address, it's in a forest! Please hurry!" The ambulances came shortly after, and carried Skye to the hospital.

My parents were always with me when I was young. "You're a man of virtue, Chase." My dad would call on. He was very proud of his little son and expected the best for him.

"Chasey, let's go out for a walk!" My mom would say. We would go on strolls for hours. Just enjoying nature through the thick, rustling trees and the green, tall grass. I would always chase rabbits or other small creatures for fun. Never hurt them, just catch them and let them go.

One day, we all went together for a walk in the woods, as a family. I saw something moving in the bushes. I was focused. "Don't go too far, Chasey!" I could hear my mom say behind me. I wasn't listening. I had already took off after the animal, deep into the woods.

I see the animal's long tail shaking in the grass. In fact, there were multiple tails. Long, grey tails.

Suddenly, the tail jumped out of the bush. It was a wolf, and it pounced on me. I shriek and call for my parents. The wolf reveals a sharp set of teeth, ready to bite. My parents came to the rescue. Dad pounced on the wolf, coming to my aid. He sunk his teeth deep into the wolf's, not letting go. The wolf immediately got off me and started squealing. The other wolves came and bit his tail off, causing blood to gush out. The wolves quickly terminated him. Mom yelled at me to run. But I stood there, paralyzed in horror. Dad is dead, and Mom is next.

I make a run for it. Cold tears flowing down my face, not looking back. Shaking of fear, traumatized. I run out of the woods, and into a young friendly figure. He looks down at me. He adopts me. "Hey Chase, my name is Ryder." I stop crying.

My parents were the last people I loved before I lost them. Now Skye is the only one I love. I don't want to lose her. I can't.
