Rocky's POV
I sit quietly inside my puphouse. I feel like doing absolutely nothing, besides sleeping all day. Chase is gone. Because of me.

"Knock knock!" I hear a joyful voice say.

"Come in," I reply in monotone.

Zuma walks in. Zuma's always been my good friend. He's usually always with me during the fun times, but he can also be very supportive during the harder ones.

"Hey," said Zuma. "I can tell you're down."

I sigh. "Yeah, I just feel a bit guilty about the Chase situation. People have been nagging me about it."

"Who did? I'll punch them," he said, trying to be helpful.

"Not important," I tell him.

"Oh. Well I have news," he began. "Jake's going out for a long expedition at the South Pole. So Everest will be staying at our place for a week."

I lift my head up slightly. "Really?"

Okay, this has been a secret between Zuma and I, but I had a crush on Everest ever since we met. I instantly fell in love with her. She's just got a really great personality. Lately, we were getting along very well, and I have been planning on asking her out.

"Yeah, she's coming later this evening," smiled Zuma.

"Great!" I reply. I get out of my puphouse and enjoy the rest of the day as much as I can.

"Why are you so happy?" growled Marshall.

"Everest is coming over today!" I smile. Marshall was clearly deranged by this, but I decided to not pay too much attention to him.

Later. . .

Ryder has seemed to be cheering up, too. He was also dressing fancy for some reason. "What's with the tux?" I ask.

He winked at me and smiled. "Oh, I'm going out tonight." He applied gel in front of his mirror and smirked.

"With who?" I ask, smiling.

Ryder chuckled. "Oh, nobody important," he said. He brushed his hair a couple of times.

I figured it was Katie.

Just as Ryder left the house, someone else walked in.

"Rocky!" the pup exclaimed.

"Everest!" My smile was wider than Ryder's pup pad, which was slightly embarrasing. Everest didn't mind.

Everest looked around her. "Um, where's Skye?"

Uhh. This wasn't a good time to ruin her mood. "Oh, she's not home," I tell her rather quickly.

She shrugged. "Anyway, I brought my sleeping bag! We should all sleep in the Lookout tonight!"

I thought that was a splendid idea. Ryder wasn't going to be home until tomorrow, anyway.

"Cool! Call Chase and the others!" she says, wagging her tail.

Oh crap.

"I, um, Chase is with Skye," I say.

"Oh, something special going on there?" she asked, winking.

I slightly blush out of the blue. "I guess so."

"Hey," I say, dragging my paw across the ground. "Do you have a minute?"

She smiles and nods.

I bring her outside, to the same spot where I sit to admire the sunset. We both sit across the edge of the cliff, and into the bay.

The intense falling sunlight disperses into a sky of pink and orange. The water is glimmering a bright blue. The sound of small waves crashing against the shore was a relaxing sight for all.

She gazes at the sun for a minute, hypnotized. "Wow," she blurted out.

I smile and stare into her eyes. Her deep, deep eyes, reflecting nature's finest work. She seems to be enjoying herself out here.

"Thank you for showing me this, Rocky," she says, smiling.

I nod. "My pleasure."

Everest heads inside, and Zuma caught up to me. "So, how'd it go?" he asked.

"It went pretty well," I respond quietly. "She liked it."

Zuma's eyes widened. "Then what awre you waiting for?! Ask her out already!"

I look away. Love is complicated. I really love her. I just can't ask her out.

"I can't," I say, ashamed.

Zuma gave me a pat on the back. "Okay, just take it slow, get to know her a bit bettewr. Then ask hewr. Deal?"

We shake our paws. Deal.

I head back inside, and the Rocky/Everest sleepover begun. We talk a bit about our interests. Everest loves snowboarding, s'mores, and warm hugs.

"That's cool," I say casually.

Everest stared at me a bit. "May I have a warm hug then?"

I blush. She wants a hug? From me?

I stood there in shock. Everest wrapped her arms around me. It felt so nice. I loved it. I wanted to tell her to never let go. I wanted it to last forever. But it couldn't.

As we finished our hug, Rubble walked in, along with Marshall. "Ooh, I love sleepovers!" exclaimed Rubble.

Soon, our sleepover was invaded by the two pups. Everest, however, was delighted to have their company.

"Guys, I'll be back," I tell everyone. I head over to my puphouse. I took a pen and paper. I knew what I was going to do.
______

Dear Everest,
Ever since I met you
I felt so in love and helpless
You are beautiful and smart, too
My love for you remains restless

I do not know what I would do
If I were separated from you
Without you, I feel very blue
Because Everest, I love you.
~Rocky.

He left it in his pup-house to get Everest. She calls her over to his puphouse, and she comes quickly. She picks up the letter and blushes. She reads it.

Dear Everest,
Ever since I met you
I felt so disgusted and sick
You smell like poo, too
I'd rather suck my own dick

I don't know what I would do
If I had to spend a day with you
I'd probably try to run
Away from your ugly face
~Rocky

Everest teared the paper in half. "You have a disturbed sense of humor!" she yelled at Rocky. She took all her stuff and drove away, almost crying.

Rocky stood paralyzed, traumatized by Everest's words. The love of her life had just rejected him and hates him more than any other being on the planet. He entered into a state of colossal depression.

Marshall smiled.
