"Come on Lauren, focus." I could tell that Spencer was getting impatient.
"I can't, this is too hard." I complain.
Aidan sits on a nearby rock, smiling. He's enjoying a handful of berries... and watching me fail at trying to teleport.
"It's not that hard, Lauren." He told me before we started this session. "You just need to concentrate on where you want to go."
"Says the boy who teleported to London, England and back." I complain. "It's not that easy for all of us, you know."
"But I got it on the first try."
"Exactly. For you, it takes no effort." I say. "And, by the way, why didn't you stay in England?"
"Because it's not fun to be there alone."
I snapped back to the present when I heard Spencer call my name.
"Do I have to do this?" I asked, annoyed already about how long this is taking. We've been working on teleporting for weeks and I still can't do it.
"Lauren, it's the one power that I know you will have to use eventually." Spencer said. "I know it's hard but you have to learn how to do this. You nailed everything else."
For the last couple weeks, we've set a schedule. The day consisted of a lot of training, hunting, and short naps. During the night, we'd change locations from the day before. Spencer said that it would be safer if we were always on the move, instead of staying in on place.
Spence also knows the woods really well. He said that during the summer, it's a popular place to camp and apparently, our family would always come here to go camping. We'd always go on hikes in the forests.
So you'd think that there would be plenty of people out here to help you and/or find you. Well, wrong. The camp grounds were closed after my little 'accident', which actually was worldwide news. They closed it in case of other related mishaps.
He said now he kind of recognized the area. And he said that he knew the way out. Maybe four or five nights. Then we were out of that forest.
And even better news? Spencer said when he was still working with the Institute, they drove their cars out here.
He parked his car where we were heading now. The same entrance. Meaning we won't have to walk or run back home. We could drive.
Boy, you wouldn't imagine how many times I wanted to ride in a car instead of walking around in this thick forest.
"Concentrate, Lauren." Spencer said. "You're going from where you are now to somewhere else near here. Just look at that place, have an image in your mind, and think about teleporting there."
I look around. I really don't want to be doing this. I thought.
Where should I go? Somewhere where you don't have to be doing this.
I smirk, then take a step forward.
"I got to where I wanted to go! Yay!" I exclaimed. I walked over to Aidan, grabbing a berry from his hand and plopped it in my mouth.
Spencer sighed, running a hand through his dirty, dirty blonde hair. Frustration was definitely a look on his face, yet he did his best to not show it.
"You know what?" Aidan started as he plopped the rest of the berries in his hand down. "Why don't you go on break, Spencer, and I'll try to teach this stubborn girl how to teleport."
I stepped on his toe - hard. He grabbed it in pain.
"Don't you dare call me stubborn." I warn.
