"You was really good Cass." Ethan told me with a smile as I got in the car. I shot him a small smile with a quiet thanks as Grayson turned around to flash me a heart-melting smile.
"Yeah, you was great!" He told me excitedly.I finally allowed my large cheesy smile to appear and I hugged the both of them, showing my gratitude for their help. If I kept this up, I soon wouldn't be the chubby girl who has no friends, Grayson was helping my confidence, yet I just couldn't see it yet.
Ethan then drove us to their house and busied himself in the kitchen, making us a "healthy post-workout meal." The name didn't give me hope as I'd tried salads and although I knew that they were good for you, I knew that it was disgusting and it's obvious that a hamburger would be a more popular choice.
"Come on, I'll keep you company while the gym lad makes us food." Grayson chuckled, gently grabbing my wrist and tugging me along with him upstairs. The small action sent impulses throughout my body and I bit my lip hard as I stared at his tan hand against my pale flesh.
My eyes widened as he led me down the hallway as he pulled me past the guest bedroom, that was now my own, and to my old room that was now occupied by him. I stumbled slightly past my room and into his which now held Grayson's signature scent which I loved.
He motioned to his bed and I followed the hand actions and sat as the bed sunk beside me as he followed suit. He looked slightly uncomfortable and it was slightly off-putting due to his regular cocky self. Turning to him, I was about to ask what was wrong yet he beat me to it and spoke first.
"You know how Ethan wants to talk to you?!" He blurted and my eyes widened at his sudden outburst yet I quickly composed myself.
"Uh yeah..?" I questioned, not quite sure where this was going.
"Well the truth is, he likes you, really likes you, but there's a problem..." He murmurs, leaning slightly closer to me.My head reels at the news yet I force myself to push the thoughts aside.
"What's the problem?" I whisper.
Instead of speaking, he simply crashes his lips to mine in a desperate kiss. Immediately the fireworks spark, yet it ends too quickly as he pulls away and stares at me in shock.
"S-sorry..." He stammers and I smile slightly at how shy he had become.
I shrug and throw him a lopsided smile as Ethan shouts up the stairs.
"Food!"Reluctantly, I make my way downstairs, my head spinning at everything that happened in the matter of only a few minutes. As soon as I step into the kitchen and into Ethan's eyesight he immediately smiles largely and I curse at myself for never noticing this before.
He places the food on the table and I sit, Grayson directly opposite me. I avoid eye contact as I plate up and I can feel the air turn heavy with awkwardness that radiated from the both of us. I quickly dig in once I set out my food as I then had an excuse not to look at him or exchange any communication at all.
Ethan stares at me expectantly as I eat my first forkful and I turn to him, my eyebrows raised, an expression to ask what he's looking at me for. He doesn't know- does he?
"Well do you like it?" He asked nervously as I relax slightly, finishing the mouthful.
"I actually do, it's great!" I compliment and I saw a slight blush flush up his neck.He nods happily and we continue to eat in slightly uncomfortable silence and once everything is finally finished, Ethan looks up to me again.
"So can we talk now?"
I start to get slightly nervous now, as I know what it's about. I rub my sweaty palms on my t-shirt and force a smile.
"Okay..." I squeak. He smiles and leads me into the hallway, "So, there's no easy way to do this and I'm not good at this. It may ruin our friendship but I can't hold this in any longer."
"Okay..." I whisper, looking up at him due to the extra height he has against me.Taking my hands into his, he gazes at me intensely and I feel my stomach flip at the fire burning behind his eyes.
"Cass... I like you, I maybe even love you and I have for a while now. You're not perfect, but I don't want perfect, I want you, to me, you are perfect. I don't care about your size because you're beautiful inside and out and if you'll let me, I'd very much like you to be my girlfriend."I stared at him in shock, my jaw agape. I already knew the news that was coming due to Grayson's warning yet I didn't expect it to quite go like this. Ethan was popular in school despite our friendship and his type of people were supposed to date cheerleaders, not the fat girls.
Realising I hadn't gave an answer, I looked at his awaiting face and nodded with a shy smile, throwing my arms around his neck.
"Yes of course!"His arms slowly snaked around my waist and he pressed his forehead against mine.
"Good because I've been waiting to do this for ages." He said quietly before capturing my lips in a gentle kiss.
My own lips responded and I urged the kiss on.But it didn't feel quite right.
The electricity was definitely there, we had the chemistry but it wasn't as strong as what I'd felt earlier. These fireworks were like ones you bought from the supermarket for a cheap bonfire. Yet earlier, I felt display fireworks, like those they use at DisneyWorld.
I'd chose the wrong brother...
