"This all, ma'am?" A older, scruffy looking man said, taking my last large box from my hands.
"Yeah, I think so," I let out a big sigh, looking at all the boxes I had brought into the back of a local thrift store.
"You're in luck, it seems like you brought quite a bit of kids things," He nodded, giving me a kind smile. "How much do you want for it?"
I blinked, "You're paying me?"
"This is a thrift store, after all," He let out a small laugh. "How about two hundred?"
"What?" I put my hand up to my chest in shock. "Two hundred?"
"Do you want three hundred?" He tilted his head to the side. "We really need kids things,"
"No, I just," I let out a breath. "That's so much money!"
"Let me guess," He leaned back against a desk. "You're moving out of your house, right? That's why you're getting rid of all of this?"
"How did you know that?"
"I did the same thing when I was your age," He chuckled, walking to the other side of the desk and opening a drawer. "Care to have an old man's advice?"
"I'll take any advice you have," I laughed slightly.
"Don't hold back," He said quietly, pushing money across the table. "Do what you need to do to be happy, and everything will fall into place,"
I nodded slowly, hesitantly picking up the money. "This sort of feels like an inspirational drug deal,"
The old man laughed, "The name is Dave, does that sound like someone who would do drug deals?"
I smiled, "No, probably not,"
"Now get out there, young lady. Live your life," He waved me off.
I waved back, turning around and heading over to my car. Once I got into my driver's seat, I looked down at the money.
Why did that old guy named Dave give me five hundred dollars and some of the best, generic advice I've ever received?
Eventually, I pulled up to Changkyun's apartment building. I parked in my usual spot and started making my way towards the front of the building.
I walked through the small lobby and past the broken elevator to go up the stairs. I let out a sigh before walking up.
"God damn," I mumbled as I reached the top, slightly trying to catch my breath. I really need to work out more...
I dragged myself down the hall, reaching the end where Changkyun's apartment was.
As I reached up to knock, the door swung open and I was met with the bright smile of Jooheon.
"Welcome home!" Jooheon greeted me.
I laughed. "I didn't know you'd be here,"
"I thought I'd welcome you to your new home!" He laughed, letting me inside.
My boxes were laid around the living room, some stacked on top of one another.
"You're here!" Changkyun popped his head around the wall that was close to the front door.
"I am! You guys will never guess what just happened," I sighed, slipping my shoes off. "This guy named Dave at the thrift store gave me some really cheesy advice!"
"What was it?" Jooheon asked, sauntering off towards the couch, but tripping on a box.
I stifled a laugh, "That's confidential. Anyways, he gave me five hundred dollars!"
"Five hundred?" Changkyun stepped out of the kitchen. "What the fuck?"
"I have no idea why, or even what to do with it," I shrugged, pulling the money out of my pocket. "That's way more than all my stuff was worth,"
"It could go for rent," Jooheon called from the couch.
Changkyun shook his head, "No, that's not necessary-"
"How much is my cut?" I looked over to Changkyun, who was licking his lip with furrowed brows.
"I pay roughly seven hundred?" He shrugged.
"Really?" I gasped. "That's so expensive!"
He puckered his lips. "It's a nice place, plus my job pays well,"
"Because you're a giant nerd!" Jooheon snorted.
Changkyun rolled his eyes. "Anyways i already paid this month. So, that's five hundred you can use for other things,"
"I guess we're getting really good dinner tonight?" I chuckled, taking my purse off of my shoulder and setting it on the dining table.
Changkyun grabbed my arm. "I should show you the room, even though it's a huge mess,"
"Huge mess? What do you have in there?"
"My computer, computers I have to fix for people, games people want me to test out and debug," Changkyun shrugged. "Not to mention my own storage and microphones and mixers-"
"So I'll be sleeping on the couch then?" I chuckled.
"Is that a problem?" He raised an eyebrow. "I have a futon in there!"
"That's okay, I'm just happy I have somewhere to live,"
Changkyun nodded and opened the door. He leaned in front of me and flicked the light on.
Rather than being met with a huge mess, I was met with the familiarity of my own bed and dresser set up in the room. The bed was made with all of my blankets, even my bunny stuffed animal right in the center of all of my pillows.
My cheeks heated up as I felt my smile grow. I looked over to Changkyun, who held a smug grin on his face.
"Kyunnie," I plaved my hand on his arm. "This was so nice!"
He shrugged, "It was nothing, I just figured Jooheon and I could do it while you were out,"
"I always knew you were nice under all that sarcasm," I giggled, squeezing his arm. "Thank you so much!"
"It was nothing," He chuckled.
"Nothing?" Jooheon hopped off the couch, coming over to us. "We carried that queen sized bed up two flights of stairs!"
"It was nothing!" Changkyun rolled his eyes. "I'm super muscular and strong and stuff,"
I laughed, turning around and pulling the two into a group hug. "Thank you so much, you guys,"
"Now let's unpack and order some pizzas," Changkyun smiled, pulling out of the hug. "Then we can watch a movie or something,"
I nodded. "Don't touch my underwear, otherwise you guys are more than welcome to help,"
Jooheon snickered, "No promises,"
