Changkyun and I patiently waited, and soon my mom and Benjamin were walking through the bustle of people.

I tapped Changkyun's shoulder, pulling his attention away from the game he was playing on his phone.

I stood up, waving slightly to catch my mom's attention. She smiled slightly and made her way over.

"I'm glad you could make it, honey!" She said cheerfully, pulling me into a hug. "It feels like I haven't seen you in months,"

"A lot has happened in just a couple days," I chuckled as we pulled out of our hug.

"I feel awful about it, you know," Her voice softened. "I hope you don't think I'm doing this to go against you,"

"No, Mom, it's okay," I nodded. "It was hard to think about, and it still is. I'm just accepting it and letting you do what's best for you,"

"Thank you, sweetie," My mom smiled, looking over to Changkyun. Her smiled widened. "Changkyun! Why are you standing so far back? Come over here!"

Changkyun smiled slightly, stepping forward and going into my mom's open arms.

"What brings you to the airport, huh?" My mom squeezed him hard.

Changkyun wheezed, "I wanted to see you off, mom!"

She smiled, pulling away from him and grabbing his shoulders. "Oh, look at you! You're so handsome!"

"You say that every time you see me," He laughed.

My mom smiled. "I truly mean it, you know. Whoever gets to spend their life with you will be a very lucky girl!"

"Don't be too sure about that, mom," I smirked.

Changkyun rolled his eyes. "You've lived with me one day, what makes you have the right judgement over my husband material?"

"Wait, living?" My mom's eyes widened. "You're living together?"

We both nodded. "I had to move out fast, and Changkyun has a spare bedroom. It's only temporary,"

My mom puckered her lips. "Living with a boy? I don't know, honey-"

"Mother, you gave me almost a day to find a place to live!" I stated. "But Changkyun is my best friend, so I had to ask him,"

"I can't let her sleep in a trash can, mom," Changkyun nodded with a small grin.

My mom laughed, squeezing Changkyun's arm, "At least you're with him and not some crazy boyfriend, huh? Our Changkyun is a good boy,"

"I try!" He shrugged, a little bit of his cockiness showing through.

"Just make sure y/n stays healthy, keep a good eye on her," My mom looked over at me. "You do the same for him, okay?"

"Always," I smiled back. My mom stepped back and looked between the two of us, slightly smiling.

"I feel so bad for leaving so fast," She looked down. "But I have a feeling that it will be good for you,"

I nodded slowly. "I think going to France will be good for you, too, mom,"

She looked up, and I noticed tears filling the corners of her eyes. "Yeah, I hope so. Check in with me often, okay?"

"Of course," I felt my own face flush. "You should be checking in with me, though, you'll be the one in a new place,"

She chuckled, coming over to me one last time. She pulled me ibto a hug, squeezing tightly. I hugged her back, nuzzling my face into her shoulder to try and hide the tears forming in my eyes as well.

"I'll miss you, mom," I said quietly.

She squeezed me again, "I'll miss you, too, sweetheart,"

When we finally pulled apart, Benjamin said they only had a few minutes to board the plane. I had to quickly compose myself as they said their final goodbyes and walked off towards the terminal.

When my mom's familiar figure disappeared behind doors, I couldn't help but think about how that same figure wouldn't be around anymore. The same one that raised me, helped me through the hardships, and brought me into this world; she was leaving for something new.

Changkyun's finger lightly swept over my cheek, bringing me out of my thoughts. He gave me a small smile, and without a word, he just put an arm around me and led me out of the airport.
