I stepped out of the shower, towel drying my hair before throwing on some clean clothes and heading into the bedroom where Daryl sat, his head popping up as soon as he noticed me.

"I'm coming with you guys tomorrow." I said, pulling back the covers on the bed, "This is how the world is now and I have to accept it."

"Nah, ya ain't." Daryl mumbled, standing up, "I don't wanna be worrying 'bout ya the whole time-"

"This isn't like last time, Daryl-- this isn't a herd and I've been through a lot since then." I pleaded, "I'll be able to handle myself-"

"Ya ain't, Liz, that's it." He said sternly, his tone catching me a bit off guard, "This shit ain't worth ya life."

I furrowed my brows at him, confused as his frustrated energy paced the room, "But it's worth yours?"

He stopped in his tracks, staying silent.

"We both know that, when it comes down to it, I can do what needs to be done.. so why won't you let me?"

"I don't want ya killing no more." He mumbled, "I don't want ya to keep goin' through that."

My heart melted at his reasoning; the unexpected confession catching me off guard as waves of emotion pulsed through every inch of my body. Every little thing he did and said only gave me more reason to believe that what was going on between us was real-- that my love for him wasn't one sided.

I went over to him, quietly wrapping my arms around his torso as I thanked the world for showing me what it actually meant to care for someone.

I slowly pulled away, his hands lingering on my hips, "I'm gonna talk to Rick and Maggie tomorrow, maybe see if I can help keep watch while you guys are in there-"

"No-" Daryl began to protest again, shaking his head before I stopped him, my hand on the scruff of his face as our eyes locked.

"I love you.." I breathed, "But you can't change my mind."

Moments later, our lips connected; soft, passionate kisses that were filled with feelings, almost leaving me emotional before he slowly pulled away as the sound of knocking filled the air.
I let out a sigh at the interruption as I leaned into his chest, his arms wrapping securely around me while I savored every second that I was close to him.

I tiredly pulled away as the knocking continued, pushing a loose strand of hair behind my ear before heading downstairs, Daryl following closely behind.

I pulled open the front door, surprised to see Eugene standing outside of it.

"I don't mean to be such a bother, but I observed a friendship growing between you and Rosita so I figured you'd be the gal to go to now that this particular incident has come up."

I looked at him, confused, "What incident? Is Rosita ok?"

"I cannot confirm nor deny anything but I can ensure you that she did indeed slam a door in my face."

I nodded slowly before looking back at Daryl, "I'm just gonna go check on her real quick."

He nodded back at me, "Yeah, I should head over to Rick's and help out with tomorrow's plan anyway."

I knocked on the bedroom door that belonged to Rosita and Abraham after Eugene let me into the house.
I let out a slow breath, not hearing any response and unsure of what I was about to get myself into, before I knocked again.

"Rosita, it's Liz." I announced, looking at the floor beneath my feet before the door quickly swung open.

I looked up as Rosita now stood in front of me, her cheeks tear stained but her expression cold, "I never answered you when you asked if getting close to someone was worth it.." she lowly said, "It's not."

I watched as she walked away, her legs carrying her to the bed before she collapsed onto it; her head hanging in her hands as quiet cries filled the room.

I quietly closed the door behind me before taking a seat beside her, wrapping my arms around the broken down frame of one of the toughest people I'd ever met-- someone I never even thought I'd be able to call a friend.

She picked up her head, wiping her face before looking over to me, "You know, I actually thought he loved me." She scoffed, shaking her head, "Just can't believe I was that stupid."

I cocked my head at her, "What do you mean? Abraham does love you-"

"You know he was only with me because he thought I was his last option?" She chuckled, "He settled for me."

"That doesn't mean he didn't love you, Rosita." I said honestly, knowing the connection that was between the two of them.

"Well he's got a shitty way of showing it." She murmured, wiping her face again before standing up, "Are you coming tomorrow?"

"Uh, yeah.." I nodded slowly as she changed the subject, standing up as well, "I'm going to talk with Rick and Maggie to see if I can get a job as a lookout or something."

"Good, because we're gonna need you out there if something goes wrong-- if they're already waiting for us or-"

"He loved you, Rosita." I cut her off, "Whether it was romantic or if he just cared about you.. he love you-- you have to know that."

The room went quiet, her eyes becoming teary again, "I know." She said softly, "It just doesn't feel like it right now."
